Turtle Rock Studios is seeking a Quality Assurance tester to join our core development team to work on our next AAA title! The ideal candidate will have a sharp eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills. The employee will test the game for bugs, determine and communicate quantitative and qualitative feedback, confirm fixes, and help the rest of the dev team tune the game for balance, difficulty, and fun.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize test documentation to properly test in-development AAA title for bugs/defects
  • provide continual documentation and bug reports based on test results and project needs
  • Understand and support the entirety of the bug life cycle including confirming fixes and closing out known issues
  • Collaborate across the development team to pinpoint, reproduce, and investigate issues
  • Contribute to training materials and support the onboarding process for peers
  • Report project status and provide formal and informal updates to peers and stakeholders
  • Provide constructive, actionable qualitative feedback on in-development gameplay mechanics and player experience

Requirements

  • 2+ years of QA and/or game development experience
  • Experience with Bug Tracking (e.g. Jira), Documentation (e.g. Confluence) and TCM (e.g. Test Rail) tools
  • Knowledge and experience in game performance testing and game optimization
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of AAA game platforms, genres & ecosystem
  • Experience with and knowledge of different testing types (e.g. Static, Verification, Configuration) and periods (i.e. Alpha, Beta, Live)
  • Strong personal abilities & systems for balancing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Passion for games, the games industry and the online coop multiplayer experience

Preferences

  • Experience and expertise in network testing and game matchmaking
  • Prior experience testing multiplayer action titles
  • Worked as an embedded tester within a development team on specific features and focused tasks
  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • Experience with Perforce
  • Experience in programming, art, or game mod development

The estimated pay range for this role is: $20—$24/hour USD
