R&D IT Senior DevOps Engineer (HPC)

The HPC SME is responsible for developing new solutions for HPC and provide operational support to our users running jobs on HPC clusters. You will be expected to work very closely with other IT teams and R&D designers to develop solutions or resolve any open issue. This team has operational responsibility for all designated services within the region and will provide backup support to our other two regions when necessary to ensure good coverage and fast response for any issues requiring attention. The HPC SME reports to the Product Owner of the HPC team for their region.

As a HPC SME, you will be held responsible for supporting and using complex and advanced technologies in the R&D IT Solutions domain of NXP Semiconductors. You work in close cooperation with product owners, application groups and engineering teams to ensure that their requirements are met and our services perform as designed. You will be expected to contribute to architectural solutions and help drive innovation as part of the HPC team.

Your responsibilities:

• Develop automation for maintenance and operation of the High Performance Computing environment
• Improve and maintain software, middleware, used in HPC (Python, Shell scripts)
• Provide support for an enterprise High Performance Computing environment
• Install, test and configure HPC clusters/servers and software
• Analyze workload, optimize clusters for performance and throughput in alignment with stakeholders
• Resolve operational problems quickly and effectively
• Maintain global HPC clusters and provide support to end users.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve hardware and software problems
• Documenting routine and complex tasks
• Maintaining and monitoring the security of the HPC systems and servers
• Improving existing HPC utilities/tools and implementing new tools.
• Solves moderately complex problems and tasks independently
• Work in a global and international team

• Degree in Computer Science, Information technology, Industrial Engineering or similar
• Proven experience as technology expert in a complex, security driven and technologically diversified environment, preferably in the high-tech arena
• Strong motivation to apply and promote End-to-End thinking
• Proven track of analyzing, structuring and simplifying complex landscapes with multiple technology layers
• Working experience in environments where users are savvy in (Information) Technology
• 8+ years of IT experience designing and implementing IT solutions in a multi-national environment
• Business English is a must

Required Skills and Experience

• DevOps Engineer having good experience of developing tools for IT Infra automation.
• Strong command in Python, shell scripting (experience of writing code for Linux environment)
• Experience of Cloud Technology (such as Amazon and Azure).
• Software and automation, including writing documentation, specifications
• Create automated tests
• Mindset to drive automation
• Linux Administration
• Knowledge of Git/GitLab/GitLab or other version control systems, develop CI/CD pipelines
• Good Verbal/Written communication skills to interact with Global Users in English
• Knowledge of Agile Scrum and ITIL process.

Good to have knowledge of

• Knowledge of IBM LSF
• Experience of Ansible, SaltStack and other DevOps tools.
• IBM LSF supporting tools like RTM, Platform Analytics and IBM Explorer, job scheduling
