Job Description

We seek an attorney experienced in regulation, eager to work at the intersection of regulation, technology, and consumer finance, contributing to financial inclusion. This role involves assisting and executing TransUnion’s regulatory and legislative engagement strategy, building relationships with public officials, monitoring initiatives, and collaborating with internal teams to convey the impact of legislative and regulatory proposals on the corporation.
Must have:
  • J.D. degree and membership in at least 1 U.S. state bar
  • 5-7 years of public policy, government affairs/relations, and/or policy development experience
  • Public policy experience on consumer data technology, privacy, or financial services matters
  • Active license to practice law and in good standing in applicable state(s) of employment
Good to have:
  • Track record of identifying and executing creative solutions to address public policy challenges and opportunities.
  • Navigate complex regulatory frameworks to help develop firm-wide positions on public policy matters.
  • Support development of Regulatory Impact Analysis program and help monitor and track federal and state legislative proposals and regulatory events.
  • Ability to provide practical, strategic and business-oriented legal advice.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple time sensitive tasks.
  • Experience drafting comment letters, working with industry trade groups, and engaging in rulemaking and legislative advocacy efforts.
  • Skilled at persuasively and diplomatically advocating complex policy positions before a wide variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

What You'll Bring:

  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least 1 U.S. state bar
  • 5-7 years of public policy, government affairs/relations, and/or policy development experience, preferably with in-house experience.
  • Public policy experience on consumer data technology, privacy, or financial services matters.
  • Qualified candidates must have an active license to practice law and be in good standing in the applicable state(s) of employment by the position start date (or as otherwise permitted by state rules).
  • At all times of employment, qualified candidates must remain in good standing and maintain an active license to practice law in their applicable state(s) of employment

Impact You'll Make:

  • In collaboration with TransUnion’s Government Relations team, this role will be responsible for assisting and executing TU’s regulatory and legislative engagement strategy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key public officials and serve as a TU ambassador with key external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on legislative and regulatory initiatives that impact the business, and work with business leaders and lawmakers to shape regulatory outcomes.
  • Collaborate with and educate internal business executives and legal colleagues to understand and convey the impact of legislative and regulatory proposals on the corporation.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
