Job Description

The Release Manager will join a team working on an unannounced new AAA game, responsible for building and improving the game's release process. This role involves planning release activities, preparing and publishing builds to first-party platforms, tracking schedules, processing release requests, and coordinating with various departments like LiveOps. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented team player focused on process optimization, participating in incident management, and performing release retrospectives to enhance efficiency.
Must have:
  • Plan release activities, identify dependencies, risks, and restrictions
  • Prepare release builds and publish artifacts to first-party platforms
  • Track release schedules and inform stakeholders of updates
  • Process release requests, including urgent ones
  • Negotiate approval of release requirements and participants
  • Coordinate release schedules (scope readiness, patch notes, artifacts)
  • Communicate process information and changes to all parties
  • Coordinate major and minor updates and with LiveOps team
  • Participate in incident management on the game’s side
  • Perform release retrospectives and initiate process improvements
  • Implement lessons learned into subsequent release cycles
  • Improve processes and coordinate work of involved units
  • Ensure regular review of processes, roles, responsibilities, and documentation
  • Work with first-party platforms for smooth multi-platform releases
  • 3+ years experience in software development
  • Previous experience as QA, Project Manager, or Release Manager
  • Reliable team player
  • General technical literacy and understanding of software development processes
  • Experience managing and coordinating projects across multiple teams
  • Upper intermediate or higher English proficiency
Good to have:
  • Experience working with remote distributed teams
  • Track record of working with PS5, Xbox and Steam releases
  • Experience in building processes or introducing improvements into processes
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
  • Knowledge of or familiarity with Agile practices, PMBOK, ITIL processes
  • Experience in working with JIRA, Confluence
  • Knowledge of the Russian language

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Release Manager to join our team working on an unannounced new AAA game. As the Release Manager, you will be responsible for release process of the game, building and improving the release process, collaborating with different departments to ensure most efficient release schedule. The ideal candidate is a strong team player with attention to details, with constant focus on process optimization.

What will you do?

  • Plan release activities together with other departments; identify release-related dependencies, risks and restrictions;
  • Work hands on release builds preparation and publishing artifacts to first party platforms;
  • Track release schedule in a calendar and inform stakeholders about changes and updates;
  • Process requests for releases (including urgent and non-scheduled ones);
  • Negotiate the approval of release requirements, dependencies, and participants (including their availability on the release date);
  • Coordinate release schedule (release scope readiness, patch note preparation, availability of artifacts, participants, technical regulations, etc.);
  • Communicate process information (release schedule, approval and progress) and changes as appropriate, to ensure awareness of all involved parties;
  • Coordinate release activities for major and minor updates;
  • Coordinate releases with LiveOps team;
  • Participating in incident management and handling it on game’s side;
  • Perform release retrospectives; review opportunities for process enhancements and improving the efficiency of the process, initiate improvements and assign them for further implementation by respective development teams;
  • Implement lessons learned into the next release cycle;
  • Improve processes and coordinate the work of various units involved in releases;
  • Ensure that the process, roles, responsibilities and documentation are regularly reviewed;
  • Work with first party platforms to ensure smooth release of the game across several platforms.

What are we looking for?

  • 3+ year of experience working in an software development company;
  • Previous experience working as QA, Project Manager, Release Manager;
  • Reliable team player;
  • General technical literacy (understanding of software development processes);
  • Experience in managing and coordinating projects, working across several teams;
  • Upper intermediate or higher level of English.
