Job Description

As a Revenue Accounting Analyst, you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of Telstra’s financial reporting, enabling effective decision-making through timely and insightful analysis. You will leverage critical and analytical thinking to reimagine existing accounting and assurance processes, challenging the status quo to innovate and improve operational efficiency. You will also act as a business partner, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance transparency and uplift self-serve capabilities.
Must have:
  • Complete monthly P&L and Balance Sheet assurance activities
  • Produce timely, relevant, and accurate financial reporting and analysis
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations and open items
  • Support streamlining accounting and assurance processes through innovation
  • Leverage tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support strategic and operational initiatives
  • Partner with various stakeholders including offshore partners, finance and IT
  • Ensure alignment and provide financial/accounting support for projects
  • Support audit and governance related activities
  • Ensure accounting practices comply with laws, regulations, and internal policies
  • Maintain strong internal controls and governance
  • Take accountability for assigned work tasks
  • Undertake high quality quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Build subject matter expertise through active thought leadership
  • Provide insights into key decisions
  • Model a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement

Job Details

As a Revenue Accounting Analyst you play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Telstra’s financial reporting, to enable effective decision-making by wider business and finance stakeholders through delivering timely and insightful analysis. You will leverage your critical and analytical thinking capabilities to reimagine existing accounting and assurance processes; challenge the status quo to innovate and utilise tools the improve our operational efficiency. You will act as a business partner to collaborate with our internal and external business, IT and finance stakeholders to improve transparency and uplift self-serve capabilities.

Key responsibilities of your role:

  • Monthly accounting and assurance reporting and analysis: completion of P&L and Balance Sheet assurance activities including producing timely, relevant and accurate reporting and analysis to proactively manage financials; balance sheet reconciliations and open item management, with a focus to insights into actions
  • Process Management and Continuous Improvement: support streamlining of accounting and assurance processes through innovation and leverage tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Strategic / Operational initiatives: support various strategic and operational initiatives (e.g. reconciliation uplift and Blackline automation)
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: partner with various stakeholders including offshore partners, finance and IT to ensure alignment and provide financial/accounting support for projects and ongoing financial management.
  • Compliance and Governance: support audit and governance related activities. Ensure that all accounting practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, maintaining strong internal controls and governance.
  • Take accountability for assigned work tasks, working independently and collaborating with internal stakeholders as required
  • Leverage your analytical skills to undertake high quality quantitative and qualitative analysis, building your subject matter expertise through active thought leadership , to provide insights into key decisions
  • Model a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement and learning to support team members within and external to the group

About You

To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in:

  • Collaborating and business partnering with stakeholders
  • In-depth technical accounting experience, including knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience in financial systems and IT tools/processes to optimise data analysis, transformation and reporting
  • Knowledge of controls, QA and governance frameworks
  • Be critical and analytical thinking
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to gather data, analyse information and translate analysis into actions and decisions
  • Attention to detail
  • Business acumen
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Hold Degree in Accounting
  • Hold or working your way towards a CA/CPA qualification
