Job Details

We are looking for a meticulous SDET to contribute to and review the creation of automated testing for production software and internal tools. The SDET's responsibilities include both software development and testing tasks with a focus on the testability, robustness, and performance of production software and internal tools. As such, an SDET is a test professional with advanced programming skills who can create automation testing tools and frameworks to assist the manual testing process. Ultimately, their goal is to improve the quality of our software products and internal tools.

A successful SDET has good time management and strong organizational skills as well as communication skills, and possesses good software design, development, and testing; with the ability to upgrade their technical skills in constantly changing technology. They should be a champion for automation and advocate for a culture of testing on the team.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Understand how our code functions and how it interacts with different software components of the projects
  • Understand project documents, customer demands, and product objectives to create and execute test cases
  • Setup & maintain, and perform test automation on multiple application platforms, such as Mobile (Android and iOS), Mac, PC, Linux, and build test scenarios and acceptance tests
  • Setup & maintain testing for custom Unity Editor tools
  • Work closely with other QA and Designers to lend advice and revise our automated test suite
  • Convert bug reports into test code that can run inside our automation frameworks
  • Write and maintain automated nightly tests that create reports for the team each morning
  • Interact and connect with teams and react to changing priorities
  • Value high levels of communication across multiple team disciplines

Skills and abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, managing their workload and time management between tasks
  • Ability to identify risks and errors in application features and editor tools
  • Knowledge of test driven development
  • Passion for advocating a culture of automated testing
  • Deep understanding of programming in C#
  • Deep understanding of Unity and Unity Test Tools suite
  • Bonus for knowledge in Unity Asset Importers, AltUnity, or Addressables
  • Knowledge in common scripting languages like Python, Groovy or others
  • Familiarity with build systems and automation suites, bonus for Jenkins
  • Must remain updated with current and emerging trends in related sector

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in similar roles
  • Experience with gaming industry standard tools and practices such as Unity and Testing framework.
  • A passion for testing, development, and design.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Our core hours are 10:00am to 6:00pm cst, which means you should be available for meetings etc. during this time.

Salary range description

At Netflix, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your personal top of market. We rely on market indicators to determine compensation and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to get it right. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location.

The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $120,000 - 275,000

This market range is based on total compensation (vs. only base salary), which is in line with our compensation philosophy. Netflix is a unique culture and environment.
