Job Description

This Security Engineer role focuses on product security within Google Cloud. You'll collaborate with various teams (security, privacy, engineering) to define and implement a robust security strategy. Responsibilities include identifying and mitigating security issues, designing secure systems and protocols, performing security reviews and vulnerability research (reverse engineering, fuzzing, static analysis), responding to vulnerabilities, and driving down risk across multiple security domains (security reviews, education, web application scanning, vulnerability research, data analysis). The ideal candidate will have experience in security assessments, design reviews, threat modeling, security engineering, and coding.

Must Have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years security assessment/design review/threat modeling experience
2+ years security engineering, computer/network security, security protocols experience
2+ years coding experience (general-purpose languages)
Identify and implement security controls
Perform security reviews and vulnerability research

Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

In this role, you help set the direction for product security in Google Cloud and partner with amazing existing teams across Google. These include existing security teams, privacy teams and engineering teams. Help set the focus, direction and impact of this organization with regards to product security. There is an exciting mix of work to be accomplished across multiple security domains. A few examples are: security reviews, security education, web application scanning and testing, vulnerability research and security data analysis all with the goal of highlighting and driving down risk.

Responsibilities

Identify security issues and implement and design security controls, tools, and services to improve security systems and processes.
Perform security reviews, research and reproduce vulnerabilities, design secure protocols and systems, and write tests.
Look for vulnerabilities with techniques including reverse engineering, fuzzing, and static analysis.
Focus on the security strategy for Google Cloud.
Respond to vulnerabilities with repos, mitigations, and hardening, Surface vulnerability patterns and design them out.
