Blend is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a high-impact project for a global hotel brand. The role involves designing, building, and deploying scalable data pipelines and architectures using SQL, Python, Databricks, and cloud platforms. The engineer will collaborate with technical and business stakeholders, act as a key technical point of contact, and work autonomously in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. Responsibilities include ensuring data quality, integrity, performance, and security, and contributing to architectural decisions and best practices.
Must have:
  • 3-4 years of experience in data engineering
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and Python
  • Experience with Databricks and a cloud platform (Azure preferred)
  • Understanding of data modeling, ETL, and performance optimization
  • Excellent communication skills for client-facing interaction
  • Strong sense of ownership and attention to detail
Good to have:
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or related tools
  • Exposure to SQL Server
  • Background in hospitality or travel industry
  • Experience managing challenging client relationships

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a high-impact project for a global hotel brand. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation, experience designing and implementing cloud-based data solutions, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

You will collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders to develop scalable, secure, and high-performing data pipelines and architectures using SQL, Python, Databricks, and cloud technologies. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to own and drive technical solutions end-to-end.

What is this position about?

  • Design, build, and deploy scalable data pipelines and architectures using SQL, Python, Databricks, and cloud platforms.

  • Serve as a key technical point of contact for the client, supporting planning, implementation, and delivery.

  • Work independently to translate business requirements into reliable, efficient data solutions.

  • Ensure data quality, integrity, performance, and security throughout the data lifecycle.

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices for development, testing, and deployment.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between data initiatives and business goals.

Qualifications

Required Skills: 

  • 3–4 years of experience in data engineering roles.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and Python.

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and at least one cloud platform (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP also valued).

  • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and performance optimization.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with client-facing teams.

  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.

Nice to Have Skills: 

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or related tools 

  • Exposure to SQL servier

  • Background in the hospitality or travel industry 

  • Experience managing challenging or evolving client relationships with  diplomacy 

Tools & Technologies: 

  • SQL, Python, Databricks 

  • Azure (preferred), AWS/GCP accepted 

  • CI/CD, Git, data orchestration tools 

  • Data modeling and ETL tools 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
