The Senior Data Engineer I will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines, reporting solutions, and cloud-based data architectures. This role demands expertise in SSRS, SSIS, Snowflake, and a comprehensive data engineering tool stack to support advanced analytics, business intelligence, and operational data needs. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable data pipelines, managing data warehousing solutions, enabling reporting and analytics, optimizing performance, ensuring data governance and security, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving automation and continuous improvement.
Must have:
  • Architect and develop scalable, efficient, and automated data pipelines using SSIS, Snowflake, and other ETL tools.
  • Ensure seamless data ingestion, transformation, and loading from various sources.
  • Design and manage data warehouse solutions in Snowflake.
  • Develop data models that support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Utilize SSRS to build and maintain customized, automated reports and dashboards.
  • Continuously monitor and enhance database performance by fine-tuning queries, indexes, and partitions.
  • Implement robust security protocols to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Document processes, workflows, and architectures for knowledge sharing.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment of data workflows.
  • Leverage SQL scripting or other automation tools to streamline data operations.
Good to have:
  • Prior experience of working in Finance domain (Investment bank, Asset Management firm, Hedge Fund).
  • Exposure to large scale distributed applications.

Role Summary

The Senior Data Engineer I will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines, reporting solutions, and cloud-based data architectures. This role demands expertise in SSRS, SSIS, Snowflake, and a comprehensive data engineering tool stack to support advanced analytics, business intelligence, and operational data needs.

Key responsibilities:

1. Data Pipeline Design & Implementation

  • Architect and develop scalable, efficient, and automated data pipelines using SSIS, Snowflake, and other ETL tools.
  • Ensure seamless data ingestion, transformation, and loading from various sources (structured and unstructured data).
  • Optimize workflows for speed, reliability, and scalability in handling large datasets.

2. Data Warehousing & Modeling

  • Design and manage data warehouse solutions in Snowflake, ensuring high performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Develop data models that support analytics and reporting needs, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Implement best practices for data storage, indexing, and partitioning to improve query performance.

3. Reporting & Analytics Enablement

  • Utilize SSRS to build and maintain customized, automated reports and dashboards for business users.
  • Work closely with BI and analytics teams to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure data accessibility and visualization by integrating with tools like Power BI or Tableau.

4. Performance Tuning & Optimization

  • Continuously monitor and enhance database performance by fine-tuning queries, indexes, and partitions.
  • Optimize ETL processes, ensuring minimal latency and efficient execution of workflows.
  • Troubleshoot data inconsistencies, errors, and bottlenecks to maintain system reliability.

5. Data Governance, Security & Compliance

  • Implement robust security protocols to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.), maintaining audit trails and access controls.
  • Establish data validation mechanisms to enhance accuracy and reliability across platforms.

6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with cross-functional teams—business analysts, product teams, and developers—to gather data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior data engineers, sharing best practices and innovative approaches.
  • Document processes, workflows, and architectures for knowledge sharing and scalability.

7. Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment of data workflows.
  • Leverage SQL scripting, or other automation tools to streamline data operations.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies to introduce new efficiencies and innovations.

Years of Experience

  • 11 + years of Software Development experience required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related engineering field required. Advanced degree preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Good to have prior experience of working in Finance domain (Investment bank, Asset Management firm, Hedge Fund).
  • Good to have exposure to large scale distributed applications.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in SSRS, SSIS, and Snowflake.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Expertise in data pipeline design, ETL tools, and cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance practices.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
