The Senior Development Engineer serves as the primary liaison between Facilities & Operations Services (FOS) and Walt Disney Imagineering for new attractions and lands in Asia and Anaheim. This role involves collaborating with WDI on project development, focusing on cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities include contributing to design reviews, managing FOS input during the Gate Review process and Capital Authorization Request, providing project updates, coordinating solutions with WDI and FOS, guiding project commissioning and turnover, and building a strong network within both organizations. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.

Job Summary:

About the Role & Team

What is a Senior Development Engineer / Specialist? They are individual contributors serving as the Facilities & Operations Services (FOS) primary point of contact with the Walt Disney Imagineering Project Team for new attractions and lands at Disney Parks and Resorts in the Asia Region (SHDR/HKDR/TDR) and Disneyland Resort, Anaheim. This role is intended to build and develop relationships across the business hierarchy while influencing and collaborating with all levels. We are looking for someone with technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, a driver of consistency, and someone who can manage priority!

This role reports to the Manager of FOS Development in Anaheim, CA.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with Walt Disney Imagineering to create the best in class, outstanding experiences for Guests.
  • Represent FOS as a Core Team member of Walt Disney Imagineering development projects focusing on a balanced approach of first-time and lifetime cost.
  • Own the development and aggregation of FOS input work during the Gate Review process and Capital Authorization Request.
  • Participate in and contribute to design reviews at Ride, Show, and Facility development achievements.
  • Use communication skills, and strategic and critical thinking to influence and challenge the status quo.
  • Provide timely updates on project status, issues, concerns, and solutions to partners and FOS leadership.
  • Coordinate with WDI and FOS to reach pragmatic solutions in the best interest of the Walt Disney Co.
  • Guide FOS and WDI through project commissioning and turnover (domestic sites).
  • Work to become subject matter semi-expert in all things FOS, drawing in deeper expertise from the FOS organization as needed.
  • Build, manage, and influence a broad network of FOS & WDI practitioners and leaders through informal relationships.
  • Be seen as integral to project success and a source of harmony across the organizations.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in Theme Park/Resort Engineering and/or Maintenance Organizations (or equivalent external experience).
  • Extensive knowledge of Parks and Resorts Engineering/Maintenance operations.
  • Familiarity with Maintenance Requirements.
  • Understanding of the involvement and participation to review, provide recommendations, and develop standards.
  • Familiarity with U.S. industry and international standards (e.g. ASTM, SAE, ASME, ANSI, DIN, ISO, AWS, MIL Specs, building codes, etc.).
  • Strong computer skills, familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, computer aided drafting (e.g. AutoCAD, Solidworks), and reviewing tools (e.g. Bluebeam, BIM 360, Navisworks).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Disney’s Integrated Facility Planning (IFP) Program.
  • Familiarity with internal Disney standards and business practices including how they’re applied and satisfied.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g. engineering) or substantial work experience in a related field.

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $103,500.00 to $138,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
