Lemon Sky Studios, a premier Southeast Asian game development studio, is expanding into full game development, creating a new free-to-play mobile game based on a recognizable IP. They seek a Senior Economy Designer to architect and balance the game's economy and progression systems. This role involves building economic systems for progression, monetization, and engagement, requiring deep understanding of player psychology, F2P mechanics, and mathematical modeling. The designer will tune systems for global scale, balancing free and paying players, and ensuring long-term retention and revenue.
Must have:
  • Define in-game economy, currencies, resources, pricing, upgrade costs, gacha/drop rates, and reward systems.
  • Design monetization features like battle passes, premium stores, offers, and bundles.
  • Build and maintain economy simulation models for balance, progression, and player LTV.
  • Collaborate with analytics and Live Ops to refine economy based on live data and KPIs.
  • Ensure long-term content scalability with extensible systems for progression, growth, and collectibles.
  • Partner with teams to ensure economic features are feasible, player-friendly, and aligned with game design.

As we expand our capabilities into full game development and publishing, we’re building an ambitious new free-to-play mobile game powered by one of the world’s most recognizable entertainment IPs.

We’re looking for a mathematically driven Senior Economy Designer to architect and balance the game’s economy and progression systems from the ground up.

Role Overview

As the Senior Economy Designer, you will be responsible for building the economic systems that underpin progression, monetization, and engagement in a large-scale, live-operated mobile game. This role requires a deep understanding of player psychology, F2P mobile monetization mechanics, and mathematical modeling.

You will design, model, and tune a system that scales globally—balancing the experience between free and paying players while supporting long-term retention and revenue. This role will work closely with design, product, analytics, and Live Ops to ensure the game remains engaging, fair, and profitable over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core Economy Design

Define the in-game economy, including currencies, resources, pricing models, upgrade costs, gacha/drop rates, and reward systems.

  • Monetization Systems

Design monetization features such as battle passes, premium stores, offers, and bundles aligned with player segments and spending behaviors.

  • Modeling & Simulation

Build and maintain economy simulation models in Excel, Python, or equivalent tools to evaluate balance, progression pacing, and player LTV across multiple segments.

  • Data-Driven Balancing

Collaborate with analytics and Live Ops to continuously adjust and refine the economy based on live data and KPIs (retention, ARPDAU, conversion, etc.).

  • Scalable Progression Design

Ensure the game supports long-term content scalability with extensible systems for level progression, character growth, and collectible dynamics.

  • Collaborative Integration

Partner with game designers, engineers, and product managers to ensure economic features are technically feasible, player-friendly, and aligned with the overall game design.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in economy design or game math balancing on top-tier free-to-play mobile titles.
  • Experience shipping at least one global-scale F2P mobile game (ideally AAA or top IP-based).
  • Deep knowledge of player progression systems, game monetization, and mobile F2P engagement loops.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills with hands-on modeling experience in Excel, R, or Python.
  • Proven ability to manage complexity and scale in economy design across multiple systems and game modes.
  • Familiarity with balancing strategies for gacha, loot tables, IAP pricing, and VIP or retention-driven offers.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with casino-style economies, idle mechanics, or collectible-based economies.
  • Background in mathematics, economics, computer science, or game design with a quantitative focus.
  • Understanding of Web3 mechanics and NFT-based economies (optional but welcome).
  • Familiarity with A/B testing tools and telemetry analysis for tuning.
