Senior Infrastructure Engineer

CCP is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer! As a senior infrastructure engineer, you will help us maintain and scale our AAA-rated MMO, EVE Online, to loftier heights by designing and building the core infrastructure to run our game.

You will have the opportunity to manage complex challenges around distributed computing for live service gaming in space, unique to EVE, using your expertise in programming, complexity analysis, systems design, networking, and cloud computing to optimize existing systems, build reliable and highly available infrastructure, and eliminate engineering friction through automation. Additionally, our infrastructure engineers are overseers for performance, observability, and engineering quality for all services running on our platform.

You will own projects with our team here in Reykjavík, Iceland, and work with product owners to identify infrastructure constraints and design systems that work best within those constraints. You will manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables for the implementation of that design. You will also communicate to develop, test, deploy, maintain, and optimize infrastructure solutions, including build and deployment pipelines. As you build things, you’ll discover new opportunities to deliver even more development velocity, and reliability for our players, or new technology that unlocks game features our players have never even dreamed of.

This position is located in Reykjavík and remote work is possible for the right candidate.

Your profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, another relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in professional software development or software infrastructure engineering.
• Experience in systems operations (UNIX, Windows server administration, TCP/IP, etc).
• Experience in learning software frameworks and APIs.
• Experience configuring and running infrastructure applications (Kubernetes, MySQL, Consul, VM orchestration, etc).
• Experience with programming languages and shell scripting (such as Python, Golang, Bash, or Powershell).
• Experience in cloud platforms, like AWS or Azure.
• Familiarity with distributed configuration and image management (Packer, Ansible, Puppet, etc).
• Familiarity with common internet service architectures (CDNs, load balancing, queue theory, pub/sub, etc).
• Familiarity with software monitoring, telemetry services, and observability tooling (open telemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, etc).
