Job Description

Electronic Arts is seeking a Java Server Engineer for EA SPORTS™ FC in Bucharest, Romania. This role involves building cross-mode features, architectural design, implementation, and debugging on multiple platforms. Responsibilities include creating and updating large-scale distributed HTTP-based backend services using Java and SQL databases, and resolving defects across various stages. The engineer will collaborate within a large team across EA studios, working in a hybrid model.
Must Have:
  • Create and work on large-scale distributed HTTP-based backend services creating new features and updating existing ones, using technologies such as Java and SQL databases.
  • Resolve defects during QA testing, pre-production, production and from the live environment.
  • Collaborate within a large team, both locally and across other EA studios (Bucharest and Vancouver), working Hybrid from our Bucharest Office.
  • 4+ years of Java programming experience.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Java 8+, Microservices (REST APIs over HTTP), Unit/ Mock Testing (J-Unit, Mockito), Continuous Integration CI/CD (Jenkins or similar), Perforce/Git, Apache Maven/Gradle, Servers, MySQL/SQL/ Spanner, Basic Linux/shell commands, and GCP (Google Cloud Platform).

The Java Server Engineers will take part in building cross-mode Features, including architectural design, implementation, and debugging on multiple platforms—working on complex problems with Designers, Artists and other Engineers in domains including rendering, gameplay, audio, user interface, online, physics, databases and tools.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Java programming experience
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
