The Quality Engineering team enhances efficiencies through automation and workflow improvements. This Software Engineer role focuses on creating tools and technical strategies to improve automation infrastructure and increase efficiencies in Game Development and QA processes, ensuring a seamless partner experience by understanding needs and building proper tooling solutions.
Must Have:
  • Build sustainable software tools, tests, and services.

  • Measurably improve process and best practices.
  • Create clear documentation to support workflow processes.
  • Develop automation frameworks, tools, engine components, and processes.

  • Interpret requests from partners and apply creative/technical solutions.
  • 10+ years experience in a hands-on development role.
  • 5+ years professional development experience with OOP Languages, C++.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and developing/deploying microservices.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools.
  • Proven experience in quality verification tools, test automation, and large-scale system design.
  • Contributor to technical architecture and design documents.
  • Solid foundation in Computer Science fundamentals, algorithms, design patterns, TDD, CI/CD, data structures.
  • Understanding of SDLC, STLC processes, and quality methodologies.

The Quality Engineering team at EA holds an important role, collaborating with Quality Assurance and Game Development to enhance efficiencies through automation and workflow improvements.

This Software Engineer role in the Quality Engineering organization works with Quality Assurance and Game Development to create tools and technical strategies. The goal is to improve automation infrastructure and increasing efficiencies in the Game Development and QA processes. You will ensure a seamless partner experience, focusing on understanding our partner's needs and building proper tooling solutions to satisfy their requirements and blend in with their existing workflows. You will report to the Technical Director, who will help you identify new technologies and develop new tools for testing. You will also be an on the ground leader in the local team and wider Quality Engineering organization.

  • Role Summary:
  • Build sustainable software tools, tests, and services to empower development teams, and Quality Assurance.
  • Use modern software engineering processes and best practices for requirements, design, implementation, and testing.
  • You will work with all disciplines to gather requirements, collaborate on solutions, and implement.
  • Measurably improve process and best practices to achieve targets across a small team of engineers.
  • Create clear documentation to support workflow processes.
  • Develop automation frameworks, tools, engine components and processes used across studios.
  • Develop robust automation infrastructure to support to support game testing and tool development
  • Interpret requests from your QA and engineering partners, account for and call out any roadblocks or efficiencies your partners may not consider, and propose and apply your creative or technical solutions.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years experience in a hands-on development role.
  • 5+ years of professional development experience with OOP Languages, C++.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and developing/deploying microservices.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Docker, Jenkins, Ansible, Git, Grafana, etc.)
  • Proven experience in quality verification tools, test automation, and large-scale system design.
  • Contributor to technical architecture and design documents for medium/large sized features
  • A solid foundation in Computer Science fundamentals, algorithms, design patterns, test-driven development, CI/CD processes, and data structures.
  • Understanding of SDLC, STLC processes, and quality methodologies.
  • Quality-first mindset and desire to make QA more successful through tools/automation.

Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

PAY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$119,600 - $167,300 CAD
