Job Description

Reporting to the QA Manager, you will be a key part of a cross-functional team, testing commercial software for the Financial Services Industry, specifically superannuation and pension products. This role involves utilizing modern testing methods and practices to deliver quality software efficiently. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and assuring automated quality assurance using various test automation tools and frameworks, building CI/CD pipelines, and generating test metrics for process improvements.
Must have:
  • Developing, implementing, and assuring automated Quality Assurance using various test automation tools & frameworks such as Selenium, QTP/UFT and working API framework.
  • Implementation of CI/CD pipe building using CI tools like JENKINS, TeamCity.
  • Building automation scripts in HP ALM/JIRA.
  • Generating test metrics & ROI.
  • Building complex SQL queries for data mining and migration.
  • Interpreting and applying DST-wide QA standards within automation.
  • Performing Automation Development, Quality Assurance and Testing tasks across the full SDLC.
  • Mentoring, reviewing the work of, and developing the technical skills of other resources.
  • Analyzing Test Requirements to design and prepare automated test scenarios and test scripts.
  • Execution of automated test scripts, capturing test evidence and recording success criteria and/or defects.
  • Assisting clients/senior stakeholders in the definition of automation requirements/scenarios.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer Science.
  • Working experience in Automation testing using Selenium and similar tools like UFT.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Automation framework development and enhancement (at least 2 years, preferably 3+ years).
  • Proven experience on activities like automated script design, development, execution and maintenance in a Keyword driven framework.
Good to have:
  • ISTQB or any other certification.

Opportunity snapshot:

Reporting to the QA Manager you will play a key role in a cross functional team by testing commercial software for distribution to the Financial Services Industry, namely superannuation and pension products using modern testing methods and practices to deliver quality software efficiently in a challenging environment.

Key accountabilities:

  • Developing, implementing and assuring automated Quality Assurance using various test automation tools & frameworks such as Selenium, QTP/UFT and working API framework (restful APIs/SOAP UI/Postman API)
  • Implementation of CI/CD pipe building using CI tools like JENKINS, TeamCity for building and running automation scripts
  • Building automation scripts in HP ALM/JIRA to get them run on automation labs
  • Generating test metrics & ROI to utilize them for process and efficiency improvements.
  • Building complex SQL queries to build automation scripts for data mining requirements and migration requirements
  • Interpreting and applying DST-wide QA standards within automation and assisting others in doing so.
  • Performing Automation Development, Quality Assurance and Testing tasks relating to Business and IT change across the full software delivery lifecycle (SDLC) and assuring the work of others to ensure conformance to standards within automation.
  • Mentoring, reviewing the work of, and developing the technical skills of other resources at the departmental level. Supporting less experienced staff, validating and reviewing their work. In particular, you will be called upon to mentor manual QA staff in utilizing automation capabilities.
  • Working as an integral part of a team of Specialist Automation Analysts and QA Analysts to assure quality on a Project or Program of IT change – typically covering more than one system or area of functional or Business change.
  • Assisting the Automation Manager in the application of quality standards and good practice at peer-level across the IT and Business organizations, acting as an authority and an advocate for the IT Quality Assurance strategy, its meaning, benefits, and goals.
  • Analyzing Test Requirements and assuring the work of others to ensure conformance to standards then using the same to design and prepare automated test scenarios and test scripts which provide comprehensive coverage of given requirements.
  • Execution of automated test scripts as created by self or other team members, capturing test evidence and recording success criteria and/or defects, and assuring the work of others to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Assisting clients/senior stakeholders in the definition of automation requirements/scenarios and representing the QA department in a technical capacity during such interactions (e.g. meetings, daily calls, defect triage, progress reporting).
  • Managing your own performance, career and personal development - in conjunction with your line manager and in reference to the DST standard frameworks for these.

Education and qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer Science (mandatory)
  • ISTQB or any other certification

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working experience in Automation testing using Selenium and similar testing tools like UFT etc. using VBScript, C#, Java, Cucumber, Gherkins etc. with strong understanding of Object-Oriented concepts.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Automation framework development and enhancement and should have worked on script development. Generally (at least 2 years, preferably 3+ years).
  • Proven experience on activities like automated script design, development, execution and maintenance in a Keyword driven framework using the HP UFT or Selenium framework.
