Job Description

The CoreMotion Motion & Interaction team at Apple develops innovative motion-based user interactions for devices, including sensor fusion and motion gestures for games and augmented reality. They are seeking a Software Development Manager in Test to lead a team validating CoreMotion features. This role involves designing simulation tools, developing test frameworks, investigating hardware/software issues, owning SW feature testing and KPIs, collaborating with development and project management, and leading a team to ensure high-quality software that enhances Apple products for millions of customers.
Must have:
  • Work with team to design and develop algorithm simulation tooling and analysis pipeline
  • Lead development of software/firmware test frameworks
  • Drive investigation and analysis of issues spanning across the hardware and software interaction layers
  • Own overall testing, validation and characterization of SW features/algorithms including measuring and tracking KPIs
  • Work closely with development, project management and cross-functional parters to drive excellent quality aligned with release schedules
  • Hire, coach, mentor, motivate and retain talent in the team

When you play games by simply moving your devices or use the compass to find your way it’s the work of engineers and scientists on this team. CoreMotion team is looking for a talented Software Development Manager in Test to lead a fantastic group of engineers who test and validate CoreMotion features. We work in an energizing environment that is fast-paced and relies heavily on a tight relationship between test and development. As a CoreMotion leader, you will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape and improve the software that allows our products to delight and inspire millions of Apple’s customers every day. In this role you will:

  • Work with team to design and develop algorithm simulation tooling and analysis pipeline
  • Lead development of software/firmware test frameworks
  • Drive investigation and analysis of issues spanning across the hardware and software interaction layers
  • Own overall testing, validation and characterization of SW features/algorithms including measuring and tracking KPIs
  • Work closely with development, project management and cross-functional parters to drive excellent quality aligned with release schedules

Qualifications

  • BS or higher in CS, EE, ME or other related fields
  • 5+ years relevant experience in the industry, with at-least 2 years as leading and managing an engineering or quality team
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following domain: sensor fusion, control design, signal processing, machine learning, robotics, AR/VR, inertial sensors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working at the intersection of HW/SW
  • Ability to work in dynamic environment with shifting priorities and schedules
  • Creative thinker and strong problem solver with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficient at programming in one or more of the following languages: Python, C/C++, Swift
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with smartphones, fitness trackers, headphones, etc. on sensor technologies is a plus
