Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products in our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, our Graph team is dedicated to simplifying the process of extracting insights from the vast scale of interconnected business data prevalent in every organization. We are driven by our goal to enable all users to visualize, analyze, and enrich the intricate relationships within their business data.  

We are currently seeking a talented C++ Software Engineer with strong C++ programming skills who can help implement our vision of a scale-out, analytical graph query engine, enabling large-scale graph analytics for data analysts, business users, and data scientists across all organizations.

Required/Minimum Qualifications​

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related technical discipline.
• Proficiency in modern C++.
  • OR equivalent experience

Other Requirements 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: 

• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred/Additional Qualifications 

• ​​Master’s or PhD Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Exposure to distributed databases and other distributed data systems as an Individual Contributor is a plus.

• ​​You will participate in the development of our analytical graph query engine, based on modern C++, collaborating with industry experts on the query frontend, optimization and distributed execution components.
• You will contribute to the modularization, optimization, testing, repairability and observability of the core system components.
• You will implement appropriate observability metrics and analyze these metrics to improve the quality of decisions.
• You will work on collecting, classifying, and analyzing complex data.
