About the job

Who We Are

At Regression Games, we are building cutting edge products for automated testing in games. We're a fast-moving team driven by innovation, experimentation, and a deep commitment to transforming the game development experience. If you're passionate about pushing the boundaries of AI and game automation, we're looking for a software engineer like you to join us!

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Engineer in the space of QA automation frameworks for games who can lead and contribute to our products for automated game testing. As part of this job, you will implement backend systems, frontend systems, and game engine tools related to automated testing in games. You will use your existing experience in game QA automation to build a product that can help developers across a wide range of genres, mainly within the Unity game engine. You have a deep understanding of the QA process, including how bugs are found, reported, and addressed. Using this knowledge, your goal is to help steer our product and implement features that feel magical to the developers on our platform.

For this role, we are looking for someone with that true startup mentality - jumping into problems without hesitation, implementing experimental products, and diving deep with customers to understand their needs. The ideal candidate isn’t afraid to implement crazy ideas, build and throw away entire systems, and collaborate with the team to find the best way forward with an idea.

Location

We have options for either fully remote or hybrid remote/in-person at our NYC hub, where our CEO is located.

Requirements

  • Experience in designing and implementing automated game testing systems.
  • Familiarity with game engines, specifically Unity, and especially with building tools and SDK for engines.
  • You are a fast and skilled programmer with a knack for writing readable code and discussing engineering systems.
  • You thrive in an environment where rapid prototyping, constant learning, and agility are at the core of every project.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a penchant for teamwork and idea-sharing.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and readiness to tackle unique challenges.

Nice to haves

  • Experience in developing AI agents for gaming applications.
  • Practical experience with AI approaches such as LLMs and RL, with a goal of pushing this technology to its limit.
  • Expertise in reinforcement learning techniques and frameworks (e.g., PPO, DQN, actor-critic methods).

Projects We’ve Worked On

  • LLM-driven behavior trees for dynamic agents
  • In-game object detection for game state retrieval
  • Automated input recording and playback systems
  • UIs for low-code functional testing of game state

Benefits

  • Unlimited PTO (with a minimum required time of 15 days)
  • Great medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Mental health resources and reimbursement
  • 401k

Research shows that in order to apply for a job, women feel they need to meet 100% of the criteria while men usually apply after meeting about 60%. Regardless of how you identify, if you believe in our vision and are a good match, we encourage you to apply.
