This Software Engineer in Test (SDET) role requires deep knowledge of Linux systems for development, deployment, and maintenance, alongside managing software packages and automating tasks with scripting. Responsibilities include planning, designing, developing, verifying, and maintaining automated and manual test suites, with a focus on performance, load, scalability, networks, and infrastructure testing in virtual environments. The role involves working with product development teams to ensure software quality and increase automated test coverage.

  • Create and maintain scripts (Bash, Python) to automate tasks and monitor systems.
  • Plan, design, develop, verify, and maintain automated and manual test suites.
  • Test performance, load, scalability, networks, and infrastructure.
  • Set up OS and test infrastructure in virtual environments like VMware ESXi server, Hyper-V, KVM, Nutanix, OpenShift.
  • Identify and document defects, working with stakeholders for timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to ensure software quality requirements are met.
  • Increase product automated test coverage and improve release quality.
  • Lead troubleshooting of issues in QA environment.

Role Overview:

Using your deep knowledge of various Linux systems (like Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, and Red Hat) for everything from development to deployment and maintenance.

Managing software packages using tools like rpm, apt-get, yum, and dnf across different Linux flavors.

Creating and maintaining helpful scripts (using things like Bash or Python) to automate tasks, set up new systems, and keep an eye on things

Plan, design, develop, verify, and maintain automated and manual test suites.

Responsible for testing performance, load, scalability / capacity, networks and infrastructure.

Hands-on experience in setting up OS in virtual environments like VM-Workstation, ESX server, Hyper-V , KVM

About the Role:

  • Plan, develop, execute, monitor, improve, and maintain manual and automated test cases.
  • Identify, document defects and work closely with all stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Hands-on experience in setting up test Infrastructure in virtual environments like VMware ESXi server, Hyper-V, KVM, Nutanix and OpenShift.
  • Works with product development teams throughout the product development life cycle to ensure software quality requirements and goals are established and met.
  • Increase product automated test coverage and improve the release quality across multiple test environments.
  • Lead troubleshooting of issues in QA environment

About You:

  • Experience: 4 - 6 years experience in Functional QA testing, particularly with products interfacing with networking and security solutions.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and shell scripting with Bash
  • Cloud Platforms: Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Good understanding of several Linux distributions (like Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, RHEL
  • CI/CD: Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins, GitHub is a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with microservice architecture, Kubernetes, and Docker containers.
  • Exposure to Virtual environments such as VM-Workstation, ESX server, Hyper-V , KVM
  • Testing Methodologies: Knowledge of various testing methodologies, including unit, integration, and performance testing
