Job Description

Apple’s Graphics, Games, and Machine Learning group (GGML) is seeking a Software Engineer for their Release & Automation team. This role involves designing and delivering Fullstack solutions for tracking and releasing groundbreaking GPU-related technology across Apple's operating systems and products like iPhone, iPad, MacBook, Apple TV, and VisionPro. The engineer will collaborate cross-functionally to develop, maintain, and migrate internal tools and websites to Apple's internal Cloud Infrastructure, focusing on cloud-based applications, web development, and database administration. Responsibilities also include authoring automation tools, resolving build issues, and compiling graphics projects.
Must have:
  • Develop skills in cloud based applications, web development, and database administration
  • Migrate projects to Apple's internal Cloud Infrastructure
  • Author automation tools
  • Solve technical build and integration problems
  • Compile graphics projects from source
  • Triage and resolve build issues
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a software development role
  • Programming knowledge of at least 1 major language: Python, Java, C, C++, Objective-C, Swift, C#
  • Development experience in front-end/full-stack, and/or cloud-based technologies
  • OS X, iOS, or UNIX development experience
  • Coding proficiency in at least 2 of Python, Perl, Javascript, shell scripting
  • Knowledge of automated build systems, source control, and compiler concepts
  • UNIX administration and software debugging skills
Good to have:
  • Experience developing cloud based applications in AWS
  • Experience developing cloud based applications in Google Cloud
  • Experience developing cloud based applications in Azure
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as subversion, git, or perforce
  • Skills in Front-end Web development: REACT, Node JS, Angular, Django, Flask
  • Skills in Full-stack Web development: REACT, Node JS, Angular, Django, Flask
  • Familiar with unit test framework/test driven development (TDD)
  • Familiarity with Xcode
  • Familiarity with make configuration
  • Database administration - mySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite

Apple’s Graphics, Games, and Machine Learning group, (GGML) provides the media, graphics, and on-device machine learning foundation across all of Apple's innovative products, from iPhone, iPad, MacBook, Apple TV, to VisionPro, and macOS, as well as Apple’s professional and consumer applications. GGML drives Apple’s graphics experiences with core technologies such as Metal, OpenGL, OpenCL, Core Animation, Pro Display pipelines, drivers, GPU compilers, and more. The GGML Release Engineering team partners on all GPU related technology and anything with a display - including HomePod! We cover everything from boot layer, frameworks, OS, compilers and AR. This presents a fascinating range of opportunities to work on while supporting the org. As a Release Engineer you'll collaborate closely with technical and non-technical colleagues, working cross-functionally across SWE, to develop, maintain, and migrate our internal tools and websites into the cloud. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
