We are seeking a Software (Technical) Support Engineer in Dresden, Germany, to troubleshoot, install, and validate software systems for CGA-based process tools. This role involves analyzing problems, providing solutions, performing installations, testing software releases, and engaging with customers to ensure trust and resolve operational issues. Must have:
  • Analyze reported problems and validate solutions for software systems (Microsoft Server / Network Topology / Applications)
  • Provide troubleshooting plans to discover root cause and deliver rapid resolution on systemic issues
  • Install and configure software and images on Early Learning Shipments (ELS) / New Product Introductions (NPI) / First In Fab (FIF) tools
  • Document and perform first-of-kind installs on High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) tools
  • Develop and train on Software procedures
  • Collect and incorporate customer specific test scenarios
  • Construct simulators for testing and troubleshooting
  • Execute test plans to validate software releases
  • Create, test, and verify installation/upgrade instructions for Applied Materials’ product releases
  • Understand, research, and resolve internal and external application and systems issues, investigate high value problems (HVP), systematic bugs or software failures
  • Foster customer trust in Applied Materials Software
  • Consult on Factory Automation scenarios (FA)
  • Resolve questions on tool operations and settings
  • Provide on-going training to customers and customer engineers (CE) for technical products and systems issues
  • Assist in analysis of customer OS performance, integration, and database management issues
  • Deliver updates and reports to managers, partners, and peers
  • A degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation or related
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in software testing, test cases, documentation, and network technology
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • A team player with a willingness to work in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Willing to do business trips to customer in Europe and to the headquarters in the US, up to 50%
Good to have:
  • German language skills are beneficial

We are looking for a Software (Technical) Support Engineer to join the team in Dresden, Germany in support of our CGA based process tools.

Your key responsibilities as a Software (Technical) Support Engineer:

  • Software System Troubleshooting - analyze reported problems & validate solutions, provide troubleshooting plans to discover root cause to deliver rapid resolution on systemic issues (Microsoft Server / Network Topology / Applications)
  • Software Installation & Imaging - Install & configure software & images on Early Learning Shipments (ELS) / New product Introductions (NPI) / First In Fab tools (FIF), document & perform first of kind installs on High Volume Manufacturing tools (HVM), develop & train on Software procedures

Your education and experience
