Job Description

The Spring 2026 Intern will be part of the Ansys Meshing development team and will work with the team to develop advanced engineering features in core meshing libraries. The intern will gain experience in software development for discretizing engineering problems in an intuitive and integrated mesh generation environment and contribute to advancing mesh generation algorithms used for various physics applications. The intern will also gain experience in how software design principles apply to engineering disciplines for simulating physics for next-generation products. Continuous role-based skills training and development will be provided, along with a dedicated mentor and regular coaching.
Must have:
  • Degree program in Computer Science, Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering.
  • Design and implementation of object-oriented application features using C++ or C.
  • Exposure to scripting languages such as Python or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience in using Microsoft Visual Studio and Software Configuration management tools.
  • Coursework in the area of computational geometry and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
  • Experience in research in engineering or computer science domains.
  • Knowledge of software design patterns and test-driven development.

The goal of the Ansys Emerging Talent program is to provide experiential learning, structured job experiences, and a platform to help talented students launch their career with Ansys. The Emerging Talent program will allow students the opportunity to refine technical knowledge, enhance personal talents, and encourage collaboration and networking in our areas of focus with the ultimate goal of converting our Emerging Talent interns into full-time Ansys employees at the completion of the program. Entry into the Emerging Talent Program is through a paid 40-hour per week internship, for 14-16 weeks per rotation, and requires a 1-2 rotation commitment from a student beginning in January 2026.

 

As an Emerging Talent Intern, you will be provided with continuous role-based skills training and development as well as formal assessment and evaluations. You will have a dedicated mentor and receive regular coaching.

 

The Emerging Talent Intern will be part of the Ansys Meshing development team and will work together with the team to develop advanced engineering features in core meshing libraries. The Intern will get an opportunity to experience how software development is done to discretize engineering problems in an intuitive and integrated mesh generation development environment and will contribute to advance mesh generation algorithms used for various physics applications such as mechanical, fluid and electro-magnetic simulations. The Intern will also get to experience of how software design principles apply in an engineering discipline to simulate physics for next generation products.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research, design and implement mesh generation algorithms and features for state-of-the-art Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software applications. 
  • Develop, maintain and improve object-oriented data structures, algorithms and modules in large and complex software systems. 
  • Enhance and extend the User Interface for set-up and execution of pre-processing workflow for engineering simulations. 
  • Engages a network of expert professionals to collaborate and accomplish development objectives 
  • Investigate defects in production code 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree program in Computer Science, Mechanical, Aerospace or related engineering field  
  • Design and implementation of object-oriented application features using programming languages such as C++ or C 
  • Exposure to scripting languages such as Python or equivalent 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in using Microsoft Visual Studio and Software Configuration management tools (GIT, SVN) 
  • Coursework in the area of computational geometry and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies 
  • Experience in doing research in engineering discipline like mesh generation, computational geometry, etc. or computer science domain like distributed computing, parallel programming, etc. 
  • Knowledge of software design patterns and test-driven development
