Job Description

At Gigamon, we protect hybrid networks and data for large organizations. This Sr. Staff Quality Assurance Engineer will validate Gigamon’s network visibility fabric product. The role involves providing technical expertise for system design, operation, and testability, developing and improving testing approaches, and creating solution testing strategies with a focus on automation. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and automating Functional, Performance, Scaling, and Stress Testing suites, and driving improvements in automation coverage.
Must have:
  • Provide technical expertise for system design, operation, and testability of visibility fabric products.
  • Work closely with software test teams to develop and improve overall testing approach and strategy.
  • Develop solution testing strategy with a focus on automation, including customer-centric use cases.
  • Design, develop, and automate Functional, Performance, Scaling, and Stress Testing suites.
  • Deliver test automation code and help drive improvements to automation coverage.
  • BS in CS or related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on quality, development, or automation experience in virtualization and networking.
  • Extensive test automation and scripting skills (Python or scripting language).
  • Experienced in various aspects of systems testing and QA processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in testing highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems.
  • Knowledge of network management concepts and basic protocols (TCP/IP, L2/L3, IPv4, IPv6, REST).
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP layer, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, REST services, and hands-on testing.
  • Experience building and managing vCenter Server and ESXi hosts (VMware 5.x and 6.x).
  • Good knowledge and protocol testing experience of application protocols (FTP, DNS, HTTP, SSL).
  • Hands-on experience in creating test beds for customer use case-centric and scalability/performance testing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a true passion for delivering quality products.
Good to have:
  • Technical knowledge of current virtualization software, tools, protocols, and standards, including vCenter, VMware ESXi, Nutanix, and OpenStack
  • Working knowledge of Amazon EC2, Azure, and other cloud platforms and environments
  • Experience with network testing equipment such as Spirent, Avalanche, XENA

Gigamon is looking for a seasoned quality assurance engineer who will be responsible for validating Gigamon’s network visibility fabric product. As part of a growing, dynamic team, the candidate will thrive in a cross-functional team environment and will contribute to test and automation efforts for achieving project quality goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise for the system design, operation, and testability of our products with special focus on visibility fabric products.
  • Work closely with the software test teams to develop and improve the overall testing approach and strategy.
  • Work with the team to develop a solution testing strategy with a focus on automation, including but not limited to customer-centric use cases, replicating enterprise reference architectures, and end-to-end solutions.
  • Design, develop, and completely automate Functional, Performance, Scaling, and Stress Testing suites.
  • Deliver test automation code and help in driving improvements to our automation coverage.

Requirements:

  • BS in CS or related field
  • 8+ years of hands-on quality, development, and/or automation experience in the virtualization and networking space
  • Extensive test automation and scripting skills (Python or some scripting language)
  • Experienced in various aspects of systems testing and QA processes
  • Demonstrated experience in testing highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems, including software upgrades, distributed control, and redundancy.
  • Knowledge of network management concepts and basic protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, L2/L3 protocols, IPv4, IPv6, REST)
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP layer, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, REST services, and hands-on experience in testing them.
  • Experience building and managing vCenter Server and ESXi hosts, preferably in VMware 5.x and 6.x
  • Good knowledge and protocol testing experience of application protocols like FTP, DNS, HTTP, SSL, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in creating test beds for customer use case-centric as well as scalability and performance testing

The base salary compensation range targeted for this role, based out of Gigamon’s Santa Clara, CA, Headquarters office, is [$164,000 - $204,000], with an opportunity to earn an annual bonus or commission (subject to the plan's terms and conditions). This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.
