Responsibilities include designing advanced algorithms, researching and implementing cutting-edge machine learning models, optimizing models for performance, evaluating their accuracy, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of professional experience in machine learning and software engineering, with expertise in algorithm design, model development, and deployment.
Must have:

About the Role

As a Staff Engineer, Applied Computer Vision, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of complex machine learning solutions that drive critical business outcomes. You will be a key technical leader, collaborating with cross-functional partners (Data Science, Product, Engineering, Analytics) to create scalable systems and deliver high-impact projects. You will also mentor and guide other engineers, contributing to a culture of technical excellence and innovation.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and develop advanced algorithms to address complex business challenges. Research and implement cutting-edge machine learning models and techniques. Prototype new models and evaluate their performance through simulation.
  • Optimize machine learning models to achieve faster speed and greater efficiency. Implement feature selection and engineering techniques to boost model performance.
  • Evaluate machine learning models to ensure they deliver accurate and relevant results. Set clear success benchmarks and diligently monitor performance against these criteria.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor junior machine learning engineers. Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex data challenges effectively.

About you:

  • 8+ years of professional experience in machine learning, software engineering, or a similar domain
  • 5+ years with machine learning algorithms, model development, and model deployment
  • 3+ years in advanced algorithm design and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or Scala languages for data science
  • Experience with TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch for neural network modeling
  • Familiarity with model evaluation metrics and validation strategies
  • Ability to optimize machine learning models for performance
  • Proven track record of deploying machine learning models into production
  • Documented experience improving model scalability and efficiency
  • History of developing innovative solutions using machine learning
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment.

 

Details

  • The annual salary for this role $225-$250k + equity + benefits (including medical, dental, and vision)
  • Flexible PTO
