The Product Knowledge team, central to eBay's tech overhaul, manages a vast Big Data system including listings, transactions, and knowledge graphs, offering a collaborative environment for Machine Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering, Operations, and Big Data Analytics professionals.
Must have:
  • Working closely with development team, assist and support them with smooth CI/CD processes
  • Offering various solution and infrastructures in K8s cloud for their daily work and roadmaps
  • Working vertically to improve dev-velocity in the organization by offering various tools and methods
  • Leading on observability across your team and wider eBay, including supporting applications in production, setting up and maintaining logging, monitoring, and alerting
  • Mentoring teammates, fostering their growth through collaboration, frequent brown bag sessions, and direct support such as pair programming
  • Improving the team’s DevOps standard processes by enhancing the quality and speed of build and deployment pipelines, proposing new tools, and refining processes
Good to have:
  • Experience with event streaming/workflow technologies (e.g., Kafka, Airflow, or similar)
  • Experience with CI systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Tekton) for pipeline design, administration, and runner/agent management
  • Progressive delivery tooling (e.g., Argo Rollouts/Flagger or similar) and service mesh fundamentals
  • Familiarity with large-scale data or ML platforms and the reliability needs of feature pipelines

Who Are We?

The Product Knowledge team is at the epicenter of eBay’s Tech-driven, Customer-centric overhaul. Our team is entrusted with creating and using eBay’s Product Knowledge - a vast Big Data system which is built up of listings, transactions, products, knowledge graphs, and more. Our team has a mix of highly proficient people from multiple fields such as Machine Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering, Operations, and Big Data Analytics. What Will You Do

We are looking for exceptional DevOps Engineers, who take pride in creating simple solutions to apparently-complex problems. Our DevOps Engineering tasks typically involve at least one of the following:

  • Working closely with development team, assist and support them with smooth CI/CD processes
  • Offering various solution and infrastructures in K8s cloud for their daily work and roadmaps
  • Working vertically to improve dev-velocity in the organization by offering various tools and methods
  • Leading on observability across your team and wider eBay. This involves supporting our applications in production, setting up and maintaining logging, monitoring, and alerting, as well as guiding the team to internalise takeaways from production incidents.
  • Mentoring teammates, fostering their growth through collaboration, frequent brown bag sessions, and direct support such as pair programming, both in the office and remotely.
  • Improving the team’s DevOps standard processes by enhancing the quality and speed of build and deployment pipelines, proposing new tools, and refining processes.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have significant commercial experience and a passion working with:

  • Demonstrated impact improving delivery performance at scale (DORA metrics: lead time for change, deployment frequency, change failure rate, MTTR).
  • Proficiency with containers and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) in cloud‑native or private‑cloud environments.
  • Hands‑on with IaC, Git‑based CI systems, and secrets management.
  • Observability experience with OTel and metrics/logs/tracing stacks (or equivalents); able to define SLOs and tune alerts for signal over noise.
  • Strong Linux fundamentals, networking basics for distributed systems, scripting (Bash), and proficiency in Python.

Proficiencies in the following would be an advantage:
