Job Summary
Job Description
The Supplier Quality Engineer will ensure world-class performance of the Zoox prototype and production supply base, driving continuous improvement. Responsibilities include partnering with engineering and sourcing teams to select suppliers, collaborating on design reviews, leading supplier industrialization from design through production ramp-up, supporting suppliers with tooling and process qualifications, assessing supplier readiness, managing production risk, driving the APQP process, and supporting PPAP. The role also involves training suppliers on quality systems, reviewing part quality documentation, leading root cause and corrective action efforts, and monitoring supplier quality metrics using lean and quality tools. Travel up to 40% domestic and international is expected.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related engineering field.
- 6+ years of experience in quality, supplier quality, or manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience launching new products and improving quality systems.
- Skilled in problem-solving methods like Six Sigma, 8D, and root cause analysis.
- Familiar with key quality tools: FMEAs, control plans, SPC, MSA, and capability studies.
- Strong experience with supplier audits, APQP, PPAP, and production ramp-ups.
- Comfortable reading engineering drawings and using GD&T.
- Knowledge of ISO 9000 and IATF 16949 quality systems.
Good to have:
- Experience in Automotive Chassis Suspension system.
- Familiar with parts like jounce bumpers, shocks, leaf & coil springs.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as Cleaning, Tube bending, seamless tubes, forming, welding, general machining.
- Certifications like CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Quality Auditor.
- Experience with tooling and fixture validation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Google Workspace experience.

Job Details
The Supplier Quality Engineer will play a key role in ensuring world-class performance of the Zoox prototype and production supply base, and drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, driven, energetic, detailed, and team-oriented.
Candidates with experience in Automotive Chassis Suspension system (conventional or Air) and familiar with parts such as - jounce bumpers, shocks, leaf & coil springs, pressure regulated valves, actuators, suspension lines and further having a good understanding of mfg processes such as - Cleaning, Tube bending, seamless tubes, forming, welding, general machining will be be highly preferred.
In this role, you will:
- Partner with engineering and sourcing teams to choose the right suppliers based on manufacturing capabilities
- Collaborate with suppliers on design reviews to ensure parts are manufacturable and explore new production techniques when needed.
- Lead the supplier industrialization process from design through production ramp-up.
- Support suppliers with tooling, equipment, and process qualifications.
- Assess supplier readiness for vehicle builds and help manage production risk.
- Drive the APQP process and support PPAP through the start of production.
- Train suppliers on our quality systems and review part quality documentation.
- Lead root cause and corrective action efforts for any supplier quality issues.
- Monitor and report supplier quality metrics to ensure ongoing improvement.
- Use lean and quality tools to drive continuous improvement across the supply base
- Be ready for up to 40% domestic and international travel, sometimes on short notice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or a related engineering field.
- 6+ years of experience in quality, supplier quality, or manufacturing—ideally in automotive, aerospace, or medical devices.
- Hands-on experience launching new products and improving quality systems.
- Skilled in problem-solving methods like Six Sigma, 8D, and root cause analysis.
- Familiar with key quality tools: FMEAs, control plans, SPC, MSA, and capability studies.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes like injection molding, stamping, and electromechanical assembly.
- Strong experience with supplier audits, APQP, PPAP, and production ramp-ups.
- Comfortable reading engineering drawings and using GD&T; Knowledge of ISO 9000 and IATF 16949 quality systems
Bonus Qualifications
- Certifications like CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Quality Auditor.
- Experience with tooling and fixture validation is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Google Workspace experience is a plus.
$155,000 - $213,000 a year
Base Salary Range
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
