Job Description

The DAS Technician is a hands-on role responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and optimizing Distributed Antenna System (DAS) equipment. This includes installing various cables and components to NEC, NFPA 72, and 1221 standards. The role involves mounting electronic DAS components, performing RF and fiber testing, conducting site surveys, and maintaining documentation. The technician will also be involved in RF coverage testing and optimization, requiring strong computer skills for GUI programmable systems and a background in wiring DC power plants. Significant regional travel is required.
Must have:
  • Install DAS equipment including antennas, coaxial, fiber optic, CAT 5, and DC power cables to NEC, NFPA 72 and 1221 standards.
  • Mount rack, wall, and ceiling electronic DAS components.
  • Connectorize 50 ohm RF cable and perform sweep tests.
  • Troubleshoot new and existing DAS systems.
  • Perform RF Coverage testing and optimization, pre and post construction.
  • Conduct RF and Cabling Site surveys.
  • Competence in Computer skills such as IP interfaces to GUI programmable systems.
  • Background and skill set for wiring DC power plants and low voltage circuits.
  • Perform RF cable Sweep, PIM and Fiber testing.
  • Complete job related documentation and record keeping.
  • Ability to install fiber optical cables with a strong understanding of DAS and related services.
  • Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & roof tops utilizing proper fall protection.
  • Knowledge of the terminology used in the in-building Distributed Antennae System (DAS) Industry.
  • Comprehensive understanding of contract scope and requirements for pro-active management of projects; and integration processes.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Willing and able to travel regionally up to 60%.
  • High School diploma, GED, Technical Certificate, Associates, or Bachelor's degree.
  • 10 years of advance experience with DAS installations.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely.

Department Overview

The DAS Technician is a hands-on role that will work closely with the Project Manager and other Installation Technicians. The duties will include, but not limited to:

Installing DAS equipment. To include but not limited to the installation of Outdoor and Indoor antennas, coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, CAT 5 cable, DC Power Cable and other appropriate components to NEC, NFPA 72 and 1221 standards. Up to 80% Travel

Job Description

Installing DAS wireless equipment using any combination of external and internal antennas, coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, CAT 5 cable and other appropriate components to NEC standard at customer job sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Mounting rack, wall and ceiling electronic DAS components.
  • Connectorize 50 ohm RF cable and sweep test.
  • Troubleshoot new and existing DAS systems.
  • RF Coverage testing and optimization, pre and post construction.
  • RF and Cabling Site surveys.
  • Competence in Computer skills such as IP interfaces to GUI programmable systems.
  • Background and skill set for wiring DC power plants and low voltage circuits.
  • RF cable Sweep, PIM and Fiber testing.
  • Complete job related documentation and record keeping.
  • Keep the customer and company informed of progress of installation.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to install, fiber optical cables; with a strong understanding of DAS and related services.
  • Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & roof tops utilizing proper fall protection.
  • Knowledge of the terminology used in the in-building Distributed Antennae System (DAS) Industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of contract scope and requirements for pro-active management of projects; and integration processes
  • Finger & wrist dexterity & hand/eye coordination.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Must be willing and able to travel regionally up to 60%.

Target Base Salary Range: $65,900 - $131,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate

Basic Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
