World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization rapidly expanding to meet increasing needs. This part-time Tech Support Associate position provides technical assistance and digital literacy training to adult refugee women, primarily Dari/Pashto speakers, with limited English and technical skills. The role involves managing a laptop lending library, providing in-home tech support, and researching affordable phone/internet services. It requires strong technical skills, cross-cultural experience, and fluency in Dari and/or Pashto.
Must have:
  • Responsible for coordinating overall tech distribution and tracking for the department
  • Collaborate with interns to carry out department duties
  • Explore solution for tech repair and replacement
  • Activate, issue, and track all technology distributed to clients
  • Research and be familiar with reliable low-cost internet options for clients
  • Set up, update, issue, track, and check in the department’s lending laptops
  • Help clients obtain free phones and affordable phone plans
  • Set up clients’ phones and/or laptops for connectivity to department’s programs
  • Train clients in the basics of digital literacy (phone and laptop usage)
  • Provide multiple in-person tech support visits to clients
  • Assist with creating digital literacy training materials
  • General tech support for department staff as required
  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document

  • Must be fluent in Dari and/or Pashto
  • Cross-cultural experience
  • 1+ years of experience working with Afghan or other refugee populations
  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot phone and computer problems
  • Able to work independently and self-manage tasks and time
  • Hold a current, valid US Driver’s License; regular access to a personal vehicle required; must pass Motor Vehicle check

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dari/Pashto-speaking Tech Support Associate provides technical assistance to adult refugee women with limited English, literacy levels, and technical skills so they can access virtual education. This position provides basic digital literacy training and instructs female clients how to use phones, laptops, and basic educational apps. The role manages a lending laptop library and provides ongoing technical support, requiring driving to refugee women’s homes and troubleshooting tech problems. The associate also researches affordable phone and internet service and helps connect refugees to these services. Dari and/or Pashto language skills are required since this role is the primary point of contact for Afghan refugee clients with little to no English who need tech support to connect with WR staff and service. Note that this is a temporary position, ending 9/29/2025.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up clients’ phones and/or laptops for connectivity to department’s programs
  • Train clients in the basics of digital literacy (phone and laptop usage) by breaking down complex technical processes so clients can understand how to do it themselves
  • Provide multiple in-person tech support visits to clients who are facing problems with their laptops and phones
  • Assist with creating digital literacy training materials, including making short how-to videos for clients
  • General tech support for department staff as required
