Job Description

Electronic Arts is seeking a Technical Artist Co-op for an 8-month paid internship starting May 11, 2026, in Vancouver, British Columbia. This hybrid role within EA SPORTS Tech involves bridging art and programming, developing tools, pipelines, and workflows to enhance visual quality and productivity. The intern will collaborate with peers and Technical Art Directors, supporting game and studio vision while learning multiple technologies and technical concepts.
Good To Have:
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D art packages (Maya and Photoshop desired).
  • Experience in scripting and programming (Python and C# desired).
  • Foundational experience with 3D concepts such as: modelling, texturing, rendering, physically-based shading, lighting, rigging, skinning and deformation, dynamics, particle systems, and image manipulation techniques.
  • Basic familiarity with game engine workflows (Unity, Unreal), asset pipelines and profiling, and revision control systems.
Must Have:
  • Partner with peers on the Technical Art team and with project Technical Art Directors to support game and studio vision.
  • Collaborate with content creators using a service-minded attitude, looking to understand issues and requirements and offer support.
  • Assess, design, implement, and maintain content creation tools/pipelines/workflows that meet artist needs and increase productivity.
  • Learn and familiarise yourself with multiple technologies, technical concepts, ideas, and problems.
  • Be available for a full-time paid internship from May 11 - December 18, 2026.
  • Be enrolled in an accredited program in a related field.
  • Be returning to school for at least one semester following your work term with EA.
  • Be legally authorised to work in Canada on a full-time basis during the 8-month Co-op term.
  • Be slated to graduate no earlier than May 2027.

We’re looking for a Technical Artist Co-op to join our world-class paid internship experience. The start date for this position is May 11, 2026 (8-month term), you may be eligible for course credit depending on your institution. Our Technical Art Co-op will report to the Director, Technical Art. We are considering onsite and hybrid working options.

Role Overview: Technical Artists are the bridge between art and programming departments and have the capability to understand the nuances of art creation and technical code. They demonstrate technical proficiency in basic 3D concepts and have experience in both art and programming. As a Technical Artist Intern, you will be an individual contributor on a central technical art team supporting the technical delivery of content by development of tools, pipelines, and workflows across a distributed production environment.

Responsibilities:

  • You will partner with peers on the Technical Art team and with project Technical Art Directors to support game and studio vision, provide/receive feedback, and continuously improve, with the goal of creating performant tools and technologies that allow the creation of assets of high visual quality, and technologies that move EA into the future.
  • You will collaborate with content creators using a service-minded attitude, looking to understand issues and requirements and offer support.
  • You will assess, design, implement, and maintain content creation tools/pipelines/workflows that meet artist needs and increase productivity for content creators.
  • You will learn and familiarise yourself with multiple technologies, technical concepts, ideas, and problems.

Qualifications:

  • You must be available for a full-time paid internship from May 11 - December 18, 2026.
  • You must be enrolled in an accredited program in a related field.
  • You must be returning to school for at least one semester following your work term with EA.
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D art packages (Maya and Photoshop desired).
  • Experience in scripting and programming (Python and C# desired).
  • Foundational experience with (and technical proficiency in) 3D concepts such as: modelling, texturing, rendering, physically-based shading, lighting, rigging, skinning and deformation, dynamics (i.e. cloth and hair), particle systems, and image manipulation techniques.

We are only considering students who can work in Canada, will be enrolled in an accredited degree program throughout this Co-op, and slated to graduate no earlier than May 2027. You must be legally authorised to work in Canada on a full-time basis during the 8 month Co-op term. Visa sponsorship and relocation are not available for this position.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location. EA has listed the hourly pay ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, degree type (e.g. Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD), what stage you are in your degree journey (i.e. freshman, sophomore, etc.), qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

PAY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$60,000 - $65,000 CAD

The hourly pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including 80 hours per year of sick time (prorated based on scheduled hours per week if less than full-time), 16 paid company holidays per year, medical insurance, and 401(k).
