NiCE is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of software developers and testers in Pune. This role requires extensive experience in Java-based technologies and AWS cloud services. The Engineering Manager will lead engineering teams, drive technical excellence, and ensure efficient delivery of scalable solutions. Responsibilities include owning the product development roadmap, managing the technology stack, driving non-functional requirements, and ensuring the development and testing of a SaaS platform. The manager will coordinate with global teams, manage team members' work plans, and own relationships with product managers. Key tasks involve creating and managing product delivery, handling scope changes, implementing Agile methodologies, running scrum ceremonies, removing impediments, and collaborating with product owners. The role also includes full responsibility for team activities, driving efficiency and quality, building a SaaS product with cloud monitoring needs, managing escalations, and fostering an innovation culture.
Must have:
  • 14+ years of experience in software engineering

So, what’s the role all about?

In Nice as a Tech Manager to lead team of software developers and testers in Pune. We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager with extensive experience in Java-based technologies and AWS cloud services. This role involves leading engineering teams, driving technical excellence, and ensuring efficient delivery of scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who excels in software architecture, cloud integration, and team mentorship.

How will you make an impact?

  • 14+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and RESTful API development.
  • Expertise in AWS services, cloud architecture, and infrastructure automation.
  • Strong understanding of microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and distributed systems.
  • Experience with database management (SQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Excellent communication, team leadership, and strategic problem-solving skills
  • E2E responsibility for owning product development roadmap and deliver as per release requirements
  • Own technology stack of a product and drive nonfunctional engineering requirements to build world class, highly resilient SaaS platform
  • Development & Testing (various technologies) of a SaaS platform
  • Familiar with Agile and SAFe software development lifecycles (SDLC) / methodologies
  • Coordinate with team members and leadership in India and global teams for project development and delivery

  • Manage the team members’ work plan: personal queues & case and tasks backlog.
  • Own the relationship with the product managers, technical product owners and development across geographies.
  • Effectively communicate product expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Create and manage delivery of the product as per the business priorities.  
  • Proactively manage changes in the scope, identify potential crisis, and devise contingency plans.
  • Be an expert with Agile methodologies and deliver these processes throughout the organization.
  • Run all scrum ceremonies for the team, including Daily Standup, Sprint Planning, Sprint Demo, Sprint Retrospective, and Backlog Grooming.
  • Remove impediments, escalate issues, and guide the team to resolution.
  • Work with Product Owners and Product Mangers across geographies.  
  • Full responsibility over teams’ activities: Drive efficiency, ensure high quality deliverables and SLA.
  • Prioritizing daily actions and monitoring team resources so that deadlines are met.
  • Build SaaS product considering cloud monitoring and alerting needs, hand over and collaborate with operations and support teams for proactive monitoring and issues resolution.
  • Manage critical escalations and situations within the team.
  • Be available after regular business hours to address critical matters/situations.
  • Build and manage high functioning team.
  • People Management responsibilities.  
  • Build innovation culture in team to know customer problems and provide innovative solutions
  • Overall 14+ Years of industry experience
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Experience working in an Agile SDLC.
  • Software development experience in Java, Node JS, . Experience on AWS, Containerization, Angular, JavaScript will be a big plus
  • Experience with developing contact center products, applications, solutions will be added advantage
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills: Needs real experience bridging the gap between teams in different geographies.
  • Self-starter who really enjoys learning new tech and has experience evolving from one version to another.
  • Would be primary point of contact for all Pune- based work for this team.
  • Excellent ability to multitask and prioritize in fast paced environment.
  • Must be organized and can work in a timely structured manner and remain focused and calm under pressure.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
