This full-time Technical Sales Representative position in Cape Town, South Africa, requires a minimum of 5 years in technical sales, preferably with a chemical qualification, or 10 years relevant experience. The role involves account management, sales development, technical services, marketing support, and SHERQ management within the Middle Market WT Division. Candidates must be proficient in chemical application, water chemistry interpretation, and customer interaction, with extensive travel expected.
Must have:
  • Ensure sustainability and growth of specific accounts in accordance with “The Buckman Way”.
  • Retain and expand business to grow sales and profit margins to achieve business objectives.
  • Maintain existing applications and equipment and perform technical services to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure sales efforts are aligned with Buckman marketing strategy.
  • Maintain and improve SHERQ performance to deliver targeted sales at the lowest possible risk.
  • Support the Account Manager in identifying, managing, and implementing Continuous Improvements and Projects.
  • Accurate chemical application to cooling water systems, liquid solid separation, boiler water systems, and other chemical applications.
  • Laboratory and on-site chemical evaluation related to chemical performance in water systems and liquid solid separation.
  • Accurate interpretation of water chemistry related to chemical application.
  • Ensure 100% continuity of chemical supply, inclusive of deliveries and housekeeping.
  • Strict adherence/compliance with customer standards/required results, chemical and plant related.
  • Accurate budget and general administration.
  • Be prepared to travel extensively.
  • Be physically fit and able to work alone at physically challenging plants on surface.
  • Be able to communicate at all levels, organized, and self-disciplined.

  • Be a people-person, practically orientated, able to handle pressure, a problem solver, a team member who is self-motivated.

TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE

MIDDLE MARKET, WT DIVISION

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

A Technical Sales Representative position has become available in the WT Division within the Middle market industry, based in the Western Cape (Cape Town and surroundings).

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Higher National Diploma or equivalent in Chemistry/ Biochemistry / Microbiology / Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant technical sales experience with relevant tertiary chemical qualification, or 10 years relevant experience.
  • 2 years’ experience in a sales & service environment related to the general water treatment industry.
  • Experience in polymer application to solid/liquid separation will be an added advantage.

Applicants must have done all of the following to be considered;

  • Have dealt with customers on a direct contact basis
  • Have written service reports and discussed them in-depth with the customer
  • Have done internal service inspections of related equipment at customer’ sites
  • Have conducted site meetings/discussions with all levels of customers on site, - from Engineer to operator.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Account Management - Ensure sustainability and growth of a specific account/accounts by conducting the following activities in accordance with “The Buckman Way”.

  • Continuous Improvement and Project Management Support - Support the Account Manager in identifying, managing and implementing Continuous Improvements and Projects

Basic daily duties will include (but will not be limited to) the following;

  • Accurate chemical application to cooling water systems, liquid solid separation, boiler water systems and other chemical application as required
  • Laboratory and on site chemical evaluation related to chemical performance in water systems and liquid solid separation
  • Accurate interpretation of water chemistry related to chemical application
  • 100% continuity of chemical supply, inclusive of deliveries and housekeeping.
  • Strict adherence/compliance with customer standards/required results, chemical and plant related.
  • Accurate budget and general administration

The successful candidate must be prepared to travel extensively, must be physically fit and able to work alone at physically challenging plants on surface. They will be a people-person, practically orientated, able to handle pressure, a problem solver and a team member who is self-motivated. They must be able to communicate at all levels, be organized and self-disciplined.

A driver’s license, computer literacy, basic proficiency in Microsoft packages and understanding of business systems is a necessity.

Work Place:

The position is for a Technical Sales Representative Western Cape (Cape Town and surroundings). The successful candidate will be expected to reside or relocate to the Western Cape (Cape Town and surroundings) area to take up the position.
