Must have:
  • Establish new business opportunities and relationships with gaming industry clients.

TransPerfect operates over 100 offices worldwide, providing high-quality language solutions.

We are currently seeking to expand our team by recruiting a Business Development Director primarily focused on new business development.

The target industry is the gaming industry, so we are looking for candidates with 3-5 years or more of sales experience targeting the gaming industry. Fluent English is required for this position.

The responsibilities of a Business Development Director include establishing new business opportunities and relationships with targeted clients in the gaming industry, and selling services such as gaming language translation and localization, game testing (LQA and FQA), gamer services and community services, and other gaming-related solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Formulate and promote action plans.
  • New customer acquisition (cold calling, emails, direct mail, etc.).
  • Create and update prospective customer lists.
  • Negotiate prices and delivery times with customers.
  • Propose/explain workflows and delivery times to customers, and provide estimates.
  • Provide instructions to production departments, make proposals, and confirm progress.
  • Daily customer follow-up (quality of deliverables, satisfaction surveys, etc.).
  • Industry research and event development.

International Sales Team

The Tokyo sales team consists mostly of employees in their 20s to 40s with international backgrounds. Upon joining, you will initially focus on sales activities, but there is a possibility of managing the team in the future.

Environment for Young Talent to Thrive

The majority of employees who are active as managers in overseas offices are in their 20s and 30s.

There are also employees in their 30s who are active as VPs, and a global environment is in place where "those who work hard are properly evaluated" regardless of age.

Basic Recruitment Process - 3-4 weeks

HR Interview (English) → Office Interview (Japanese) → Overseas Manager Interview (English, 1-2 times) and Online Aptitude Test → Final Online Interview (English)

Annual Salary/Compensation

  • Annual salary system: Based on experience, commission-based.
  • *In reality, there is no upper limit to the annual income. The more contracts you secure, the more it will be reflected in your salary.*
  • Full social insurance.
  • Commuting allowance (monthly limit 30,000 JPY).

Required Conditions

  • Japanese: Native level, English: Business level (目安: TOEIC 880 or higher)
  • English will be used for internal communication (meetings, training, etc.).
  • 3-5 years or more of corporate sales experience targeting the gaming industry.
  • University degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Sociable and enjoys communicating with people.
  • Good at time management and multitasking.

Working Hours and Holidays

  • Monday-Friday, 8 hours of work + 1 hour break between 9:00-19:00.
  • Two days off per week (Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays), Paid leave (15 days in the first year), Birthday leave, Condolence leave, Childcare leave, Sick leave.

Contract Type

First year is contract employee (first 6 months are probationary period), transition to permanent employee from the second year upon mutual agreement.

  • *During the contract employee period, salary, social insurance, paid leave days, and other benefits are equivalent to those of a permanent employee.*

Overview:

The position of Director of Business Development is responsible for developing new business opportunities and relationships with targeted clients in Gaming industries, and sell and provide Gaming Localization Solutions including Gaming language translation & Localization, gaming testing (LQA & FQA testing), Gaming player services & community services, and other gaming-related solutions.

Description:

  • Develop an excellent understanding of the capability, benefits and competitive advantages of TransPerfect’s solutions (including services and technology).
  • Research, map and identify prospective customers and individual organizations.
  • Generate new opportunities via cold calling, campaigns, the Internet, networking and events.
  • In coordination with Sales Management, identify, qualify, develop and close sales opportunities.
  • Develop existing and new client relationships.
  • Identify and cultivate a partner ecosystem with technology companies, system integrators, and digital agencies.
  • Promote and educate clients regarding TransPerfect’s solutions.
  • Provide customer support and manage client expectations in liaison with Program Management and Client Services.
  • Take an active role in learning about specific industries, their business and technical needs, and specific requirements, to identify new business opportunities.
  • Perform other special projects or duties when required.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years inside or outside sales experience in consultative sales (consulting, enterprise software, professional services, etc.).
  • Japanese native level speaker with business level English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Familiarity and ability to communicate value, competitive advantages.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PPT).
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Most importantly, the ideal candidate must demonstrate high energy and the ability to: multitask in a fast-paced environment, work well with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures, build relationships with clients and co-workers, work as part of a team, take active measures to solve problems and commit to a high level of service.
