Job Description

This internship, part of the Engineering team, focuses on engineering magic by designing, building, servicing, and maintaining systems that exceed guest expectations. Responsibilities include providing engineering consultation on material choices for ride system components, identifying cost reduction projects in an operational theme park, and staying updated on materials sciences and manufacturing methods.
Must have:
  • Working knowledge of plastics, composites, and metals
  • Experience with tooling principles
  • Ability to use CAD tools
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or Post Graduate degree at an accredited 4 year college or university majoring in Materials Engineering
  • Junior, Senior or Graduate student status by arrival date
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program
  • Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines
  • Fully available from Monday through Friday with occasional weekends or holidays pending project need, up to 40 hours each week, early mornings or late nights are a possibility, bulk of work time will be during traditional 8am-5pm
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

  • Experience in vehicle or ride design
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (Note: Please, no rounding) as shown on a transcript

What You Will Do

As a member of our Engineering team, you will help to engineer the magic. You will be part of a team that works every single day to design, build, service and maintain a level of service that exceeds our client and guest expectations. Your team's responsibilities may include:

  • Provide engineering consultation on material choices and design implications for manufacture of ride system components.
  • Identify and manage cost reduction projects in an operational theme park environment.
  • Maintain working knowledge of state-of-the-art developments in materials sciences and manufacturing methods.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Working knowledge of plastics, composites, and metals.
  • Experience with tooling principles
  • Ability to use CAD tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of composite materials
  • Experience in vehicle or ride design

Education

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or Post Graduate degree at an accredited 4 year college or university majoring in Materials Engineering
  • Junior, Senior or Graduate student status by arrival date
