This senior-level role involves shaping and growing POLITICO’s European commercial offering, overseeing strategic clients, and identifying new partnership opportunities. The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial self-starter with policy insight, commercial instinct, and strong client relationship management, leveraging their network to drive new business and deepen existing partnerships.

About the Role

As Senior Director, Media Solutions, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and growing POLITICO’s European commercial offering. You will oversee a portfolio of strategic clients and identify new opportunities to deepen our partnerships with key stakeholders across public affairs, corporate communications, and brand marketing.

You will thrive on autonomy and ambition, working independently to generate and close deals, while being deeply collaborative with our international team across editorial, operations, and product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a portfolio of high-value client relationships, managing complex stakeholder groups across corporate affairs, government relations, and media agencies.
  • Proactively develop and execute revenue-generating strategies aligned to POLITICO’s editorial strengths and commercial goals.
  • Identify and close new business opportunities by leveraging your existing network and industry knowledge.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing strategic consultative advice on POLITICO’s media, event, and custom content offerings.
  • Lead compelling pitch development, presentations, and negotiations with C-level executives, directors, and policy leaders.
  • Represent POLITICO at top-level briefings, forums, industry summits, and networking events across Europe.
  • Stay ahead of competitive market trends, global policy developments, and innovation in the public affairs and comms space.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and commercially focused individual who is:

  • Experienced: 8+ years in senior commercial roles—preferably in media sales, strategic communications, or policy advisory. Backgrounds in leading consultancies, global media brands, or policy-driven organizations are highly desirable.
  • Networked: You bring a well-established network of senior decision-makers in corporate affairs, public policy, or media buying agencies.
  • Revenue-Driven: You are results-oriented with a strong personal drive to hit and exceed commercial targets.
  • Autonomous: Comfortable working independently, identifying and owning opportunities, and building long-term relationships from scratch.
  • Strategic & Persuasive: Able to confidently craft and deliver compelling commercial propositions, tailored to senior stakeholders.
  • Policy-Literate: You understand the policy landscape and how it impacts corporate decision-making across industries.
