Version 1 is seeking an experienced Account Manager to join their growing UK Public Sector business, based in Scotland. The role involves managing and developing an existing portfolio of public sector clients to achieve sales and growth targets while maximizing revenue and ensuring high customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include preparing and delivering Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), developing and presenting Version 1's propositions, contributing to bid strategies, and maintaining a customer pipeline. The Account Manager will also be responsible for obtaining customer publicity such as case studies and press releases, collaborating with internal teams, and traveling across the UK and Ireland to build strong relationships.
Must have:
  • Sales experience in account management or similar role
  • Experience in IT Services, IT Consultancy, or Technology solutions
  • Awareness of Public Sector tender processes and Government Frameworks
  • Strong influencing and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for tenders and documentation
  • Experience building good customer relationships
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of project/business dynamics
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage time effectively

Job Description

Due to the significant growth of the UK Public Sector business Version 1 is keen to recruit an experienced Account manager to join our team and be based in Scotland. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Account Manager looking for a new challenge, and the opportunity to work with large scale clients. 

You will develop an existing portfolio of customer accounts across the public sector in a way that delivers sales and growth targets, maximises revenue whilst delivering the highest level of customer service. 

The role will be part of a successful team focused on UK Public Sector opportunities. The team is made up of sales people, who generate new opportunities and/or lead on responses to large government tenders and Account Managers who manage opportunities into the existing customer base. 

Version 1 have been driving success for our customers for more than 26 years through the market-leading technology solutions we provide and through our people. The role will encompass the following elements: 

  • High levels of customer satisfaction in line with company targets.  

  • Account financial targets i.e., growing value of new and existing accounts.  

  • Prepare and have ownership over Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR’s) for your customers, ensuring they are effective. You will drive completion of any arising actions from the QBR. 

  • Prepare, present, and deliver Version 1 propositions to customers and be confident in your ability to do this virtually and in person.  

  • Contribute to bid strategies to maximise winning opportunities. Being diligent of the pre-qualification process to ensure all customer sales opportunities and bids are fully qualified and viable.  

Other responsibilities as an Account Manager include:  

  • Sustaining a pipeline aligned to your customer horizon – Grasp their strategy on a rolling 24-month basis, setting out opportunities aligned to the strategy and how we can pro-actively help shape plans and be their go-to partner as a result  

  • Effective time management, you’ll be capable of effective prioritisation of tasks and personal time management, while recognising and flagging issues outside area of own expertise 

  • Obtain customer and partner publicity including case studies, win wires, press releases. 

  • Effectively collaborate with a variety of internal teams; Delivery, Partner Account Managers, Commercial Operations to ensure success with bid reciprocation, contracts, and prospects for our customers.  

  • Travelling regularly to Version 1 and customer sites across the UK and Ireland to build, invest and create strong relationships 

Qualifications

  •  Can demonstrate experience working in a sales team in an account management capacity or similar role.    
  • Have experience in working in IT Services, IT Consultancy, Technology solutions or similar industry.   

  • Gained awareness (or be ready to establish your ability to learn) Public Sector tender processes, including Government Frameworks   

  • Can exhibit influencing and communication skills both written and verbal. You’ll be able to motivate people at multiple levels to deliver what you need on time and with high quality.   

  • You’ll be confident in your skills to complete tenders and internal documentation to a high standard using Microsoft Office suite.   

  • Experience of building good customer relationships 

  • Good commercial awareness and sound understanding of project and business dynamics  

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines. You’ll be capable of effective prioritisation of tasks and personal time management, while recognising and flagging issues outside area of own expertise
