Job Summary

The AIT Test Engineer is responsible for electrical activities (analog, digital, Radio Frequency) during the Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) phases of telecommunication and scientific payloads. This involves functionally supervising measurement technicians, defining and preparing test means, developing AIT specifications and RF/electrical procedures, and ensuring all tools and databases are ready. The role includes conducting RF and electrical tests, validating results and reports, participating in non-conformity analysis, and providing expertise to operational teams while ensuring safety and quality compliance. The position requires working in shifts and participating in missions in France or abroad for satellite-level activities and launch campaigns.

Must Have

  • Functionally supervise Measurement Technicians (1 to 4 TDM) and enforce quality and safety rules.
  • Define, procure, and prepare all necessary test means for the project.
  • Develop AIT means specifications and RF/electrical procedures.
  • Ensure all electrical/RF means, tools, procedures, and databases are ready for operational phases.
  • Conduct all RF and electrical test activities during AIT Payload and Satellite phases.
  • Validate all interventions on the Payload and continuously verify its integrity.
  • Perform first-level validation of test results.
  • Validate test reports as the responsible expert.
  • Participate in the analysis and action plans following Non-Conformities.
  • Provide expertise to operational teams on the implementation of test means.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety and quality rules (authorizations, certifications, ISO8, ESD, FOD, 5S).
  • Take into account lessons learned (REX) from other projects and contribute to continuous improvement of the "RF profession".
  • Undertake competitiveness projects.
  • Work in shifts (2x8 or 3x8) or be on-call.
  • Participate in missions in France or abroad for satellite-level activities and launch campaigns.

Good to Have

  • First experience in an RF environment, ideally in the space, aeronautics, or telecommunications domain.
  • Knowledge of radio frequency principles (waves, modulation, antennas).
  • Knowledge of RF measuring instruments (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, wattmeters) and automatic test benches.
  • Knowledge of systems and/or equipment components of a satellite payload.
  • Experience (design, manufacturing, or test) on digital equipment such as DTP (Digital Transparent Processor) would be a plus.
  • Strong team spirit.
  • Ability to manage complexity.

Your daily life

The Champollion site brings together activities in satellite systems engineering, design and production of payloads, development and qualification of ground segments. It integrates a research center and an industrial accelerator for start-ups and ventures, as well as activities dedicated to low-temperature science, more precisely to the development and production of micromechanical coolers for demanding markets.

Within the CCAIT Directorate, you will join the RF Payload AIT Discipline.

The Test Engineer is responsible for electrical activities (analog, digital, Radio Frequency) during the Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) phases of Telecommunication and Scientific Payloads. These phases occur at the payload, satellite, and launch campaign levels.

YOUR MISSIONS:

Your main missions will be:

  • Functionally supervise Measurement Technicians (1 to 4 TDM) operating on their flight model and ensure compliance with quality rules, personnel safety, and equipment integrity.
  • During the preparation phase, you are responsible for defining, procuring, and preparing all necessary test means for your project; you develop the specifications for AIT means and the procedures related to the RF and electrical domain.
  • You are responsible for the databases of test tools (test sequences for automatic test means).
  • You guarantee that all electrical/RF means, tools, procedures, and databases are ready for the different operational phases.
  • During the operational AIT Payload and Satellite phases, you conduct all activities related to RF and electrical tests. You validate all interventions on the Payload and continuously verify that the CU environment guarantees its integrity (coordination with other trades: mechanical, thermal).
  • You perform first-level validation of test results.
  • You validate test reports as the responsible expert.
  • You participate in the analysis and action plans following Non-Conformities.
  • You provide your expertise to operational teams on the implementation of test means.
  • You ensure compliance with applicable safety and quality rules in our activities (authorizations, certifications, ISO8, ESD, FOD, 5S, etc.).
  • You take into account lessons learned (REX) from other projects. You contribute to the REX for phase ends and to the continuous improvement of the "RF profession".
  • You undertake competitiveness projects.

You will participate in missions in France or abroad for satellite-level activities and satellite launch campaigns.
