Job Description

CAE is seeking a talented Analyst for its Corporate Finance and M&A team. This role involves developing and analyzing financial models for groundbreaking projects and M&A valuations, conducting strategic project analysis, and coordinating due diligence activities. The analyst will review contract clauses for risk mitigation, collaborate globally with stakeholders, and present financial expertise directly to leadership. This position is crucial in shaping the company's path forward and ensuring readiness for critical moments.
Good To Have:
  • MBA/M.Sc. degree
  • Knowledgeable in hardware and software processes and their practical applications
  • Experience within the aerospace high-technology sector
  • Comprehensive knowledge of product and digital development lifecycles
  • CPA, CFA, and other relevant designations (complete or in progress)
  • Proficiency in additional languages
Must Have:
  • Develop and analyze financial models for project impacts and M&A valuations
  • Analyze factors influencing commercial and financial decisions
  • Participate in and coordinate due diligence activities
  • Review projects for local issues, risks, and legal considerations

Are you looking to dive into the dynamic and fast-paced world of finance? CAE is looking for a talented individual to join its Corporate Finance and M&A team.

Overview of the Financial Analyst Role at CAE:

  • Innovative Financial Modeling: Develop and analyze financial models that serve as the foundation for calculating the financial impacts of groundbreaking projects and valuation of targets in M&A processes.
  • Strategic Project Analysis: Dive deep into the factors influencing commercial and financial decisions, uncovering insights that will contribute to the strategic decision-making process.
  • Engaging Due Diligence: Play a pivotal role in participating and coordinating due diligence activities to support customer needs as well as M&A transactions.
  • Holistic Project Reviews: Ensure all projects are thoroughly reviewed, keeping our team informed of local issues, risks, and legal considerations, thereby fostering a comprehensive understanding across the organization.
  • Risk Mitigation Expertise: Review contract clauses within commercial and financial documents, making recommendations that not only minimize our risks but also align seamlessly with our customers’ requirements.
  • Global Collaboration: Engage with stakeholders internationally, gaining exposure to a variety of deals that span the spectrum of our business units worldwide with a common vision: to be the worldwide training partner of choice.
  • Leadership Exposure: Work together with our Business Development departments and take center stage by presenting directly to the CFO and other leadership members, showcasing your financial and analytical expertise.

Ideal Financial Analyst Profile:

  • Education: University degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business. MBA/M.Sc.is an asset. Knowledgeable in hardware and software processes and their practical applications is a plus.
  • Relevant Experience: 2 to 4 years of professional experience in the fields of corporate finance and/or M&A.
  • Industry Expertise: Possesses experience within the aerospace high-technology sector. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of both product and digital development lifecycles, including expertise in conducting financial analyses to evaluate cost and margin advantages.
  • Professional Designations and Certifications: CPA, CFA, and other relevant designations (complete or in progress) are key assets.
  • Technical Skills: Skilled in financial modeling and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Possess experience in capital budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and evaluating financial impacts to improve project costs and margins.
  • Collaborative mindset: Able to work effectively with business development, finance, engineering, product, and technology teams.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication skills as well as a team-oriented mindset are crucial qualities when interacting with upper management, colleagues, customers, and financial institutions.
  • Bilingualism: Bilingualism in both French and English is ideal. Being proficient in additional languages is a plus.
