Area Manager I

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

Oversee all functions of and supervise leads and specialists in tasks directly related to the warehouse and warehouse related activities. Be the first point of contact in representing the warehouse facility to drivers and client contacts. Ensure staff is properly trained on all equipment and all equipment is properly maintained. Maintain responsibility for the receiving of shipments, storage of product and loading of outbound shipments.

DIRECT AREAS OF OVERSITE:

• Shipment receiving

• Inbound and outbound shipment scheduling

• Shipment unloading and loading

• Pallet In & Out and Cross Docks

• Northbound and Southbound Forwarding

• Pallet-based put away and pallet based replenishment moves

• Monthly client storage and storage optimization

• Organization of inbound and outbound pending areas/lanes

• Racking setup, equipment maintenance and forklift training

• Temperature control, pest control and safety

• Warehouse Staff Management

• Warehouse Storage Audits

• Work closely with Inventory to ensure pallets are moved and marked correctly

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: FACILITY

• Responsible for storage, equipment, compliance and safety within facility

• All shipments being received into facility are thoroughly checked for damage and pallet quantity

• Represent the physical warehouse facility to clients and business contacts • Communicate and Coordinate with department supervisors to ensure flow and throughput is optimized

• Identify procedural waste and reduce or eliminate

• Light building maintenance

• In absence of Facility Manager (based on seniority and experience) assume leadership over the facility

STAFF

• Directly oversee warehouse services staff in leadership roles • Ensure adequate staff levels to maintain the warehouse

• Work with other departments to ensure their staffing needs are met; work permitting

• Approve time segments for leads and specialists under direct supervision

• Make sure staff is adequately cross trained and capable of performing various roles

• Prepare and deliver yearly performance evaluations and nonscheduled performance plans

CLIENTS

• Act as main point of contact with clients on all warehouse services related topics

• Ensure that all special client requests and projects have appropriate charges

• Communicate with clients and carriers on inbound and outbound shipments

LEADERSHIP

• Be the example at facility for Stord's high level of service

• Hire, train and develop warehouse services specialists and leads

• Help to synchronize warehouse services between all Stord facilities

Bonus Points:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field
• Experience with process improvements (Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen)
