As an Assistant Financial Controller, you will participate in month-end GL (general ledger) close and reporting of entity’s results. Responsible in the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, review of journal entries and execution of internal control in accordance with Haleon Internal Control Framework. Collaborate with stakeholders and other functions (e.g., P2P, O2C, Stat & Tax) to ensure successful month-end close. Responsible for the financial reporting of the designated legal entities. Provide guidance and on-the-job trainings to analyst members within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the reporting of financial results for their market and business unit with commentary including Profit & Loss and balance sheet, which is accurate, complete and:
Fully compliant with all relevant accounting standards, current best practice and any other regulations
Consistently applies accounting policies which are appropriate to the current business environment.
Tightly controls transaction activity that operates in line with global processes and incorporates best practice financial controls.
Consolidation, analysis and interpretation of market results and ensures that there are no surprises
Owns the Market balance sheets including approval of reconciliations
Comparing monthly results & variance analysis
Participate in month-end GL (general ledger) close and reporting of entity’s results. Responsible in the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, review of journal entries and execution of internal control in accordance with Haleon Internal Control Framework, perform variances analysis.
Provide Record to Report support and ensuring delivery quality in terms of accuracy, completeness, and timeliness, and resolve general accounting and reporting issues.
Execution of internal controls in accordance with Haleon Internal Control Framework
Review of monthly Balance Sheet schedules & reconciliation where required. Liaise with respective stakeholders of Balance Sheet Reconciliations, specifically open items.
Ensure compliance to Finance Hub policies, local company legal and statutory requirements.
Ensure stakeholders queries are attended to and resolved in a timely, responsible, and proactive manner.
Resolve general accounting and reporting issues (eg, cycle, fixed asset, payroll, etc)
Support in the execution of month end close in accordance with month end close checklist
Collaborate with stakeholders (eg, Finance Business Partner/ Sales and Marketing team etc) and other functions (e.g., P2P, O2C, Stat & Tax) to ensure successful month-end close.
Responsible for the financial reporting of the designated legal entities.
Perform analytical review of profit and loss accounts and balance sheet, cost center checks and transaction posting checks. The incumbent has to be knowledgeable on the principal activities of each designated legal entity.
Provide guidance and on-the-job trainings to analyst members within the team. Support new and existing team members through proper knowledge transfer; sharing of resource, knowledge and experience and best practice thereby ensuring quality is maintained through any staff transition.
Work with Global Process Owner or Process Improvement Expert’s (PIE’s) to standardize close and control activities Update changes to LSOP’s and/ or work instructions documentation when required. Assist in the preparation of training materials when required.
Support all HBS Malaysia finance related projects including SAP4 HANA, Accelerated Closing and others identified by Finance Leadership Team.
Other ad-hoc activities:
Participate in any compliance audits and respond to audit queries.
Such other tasks as BSC management and changing business environment may require to be performed.
Requirement
Degree with Finance / Accounting
Minimum experience of 5-10 years of general ledger and financial reporting experience including areas on financial accounting, reporting and statutory filing, master data maintenance, treasury, asset accounting, inter-company transactions, etc.
Experience in working in commercial and shared service center in financial accounting or mixture with auditing experiences.
SAP experience is must/preferred.
Actively seeks to improve processes making them more effective and efficient.
Must be fluent in English and Mandarin/Cantonese – both written and spoken
Attention to detail, good analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to plan and manage workload to ensure all key deadlines is met.
