The Associate Quality Designer (AQD) on the SONAR team at Electronic Arts supports quality improvement for live games, focusing on player experience. This hybrid role involves planning and managing test coverage for client and server releases, reporting results, and ensuring successful releases. The AQD uses telemetry, dashboards, and monitoring systems, collaborating with Dev QV teams to drive data-driven decisions, identify telemetry gaps, and refine reporting workflows for better bug evaluation and risk assessment.
Must Have:
  • Establish custom Live strategies on your project.
  • Work with product owners to identify risks and plan testing for live releases.
  • Build partnerships across geographically distributed teams.
  • Design test plans, including scheduling, reporting, and execution.
  • Compile data from multiple sources into cohesive summaries to communicate status and risk.
  • Use different testing methodologies and analyze feature sets for automation opportunities (Risk-based Testing, Data/AI-driven testing, and more).
  • Build and shape dashboards for Live Production and Live QV Leadership.
  • Communicate status and risk through cohesive summaries.
  • Be the communication bridge between development partners and QA teams.
  • Provide technical, quantitative, and qualitative feedback.
  • Represent the QA perspective in meetings, ensuring quality standards are prioritized.
  • Lead improvements and knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Promote professional growth within the QA team.
  • Mentor and support team members in implementing quality strategies.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, quality assurance, or game design.
  • Familiarity with Data and telemetry, and its common uses for QA.
  • Utilize telemetry, data analytics, and AI/ML capabilities to enhance test insight.
  • Experience with defect and task tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
  • Experience analyzing large text-based datasets to understand player behaviors, trends, and identify recommendations to improve player experience.
  • Translate project metrics into data-driven decisions and strategies.

The Associate Quality Designer (AQD) will join us on the SONAR team in a hybrid work schedule consisting of 3 predefined onsite days weekly. SONAR is a centralized organisation in EA focused on Production services. Our mission is to Safeguard the Player experience by delivering support across Live QV, Advertisement Technologies, and Retail Automation. As an AQD, you will be an important part of our development process and contribute to the quality of our games. You will demonstrate a sound technical platform and game knowledge, have a quality mindset and partner management. The AQD will also be accountable for planning and managing test coverage on client and server releases, reporting on results, and confirming the success of a release. As an AQD you will be reporting directly to the Sonar Development Manager assigned to your specific Projects.

The Associate Quality Designer (AQD) supports quality improvement efforts within the Live team by using telemetry and enhancing the use of dashboards, and monitoring systems, and supporting the Live QV team. You will collaborate with Dev Quality Verification (QV) teams to ensure data-driven decision-making and visibility into feature health. The AQD helps identify gaps in telemetry coverage, promotes best practices in data instrumentation, and works with partners to refine dashboards that surface relevant insights. By improving reporting workflows and monitoring systems, they allow for better bug evaluation, risk assessment, and player impact analysis. Their contributions help ensure that QV efforts are informed, and aligned with player experience goals. You will continue to focus on the Live support of the game while in peak release.
