Job Summary
As an Associate User Researcher at Activision, you will join a talented team to assist with user research on well-known franchises. This part-time, temporary role requires onsite work in Sherman Oaks, California. You will collaborate with stakeholders, support or lead data collection, analysis, and report generation, and contribute to presentations under supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with user tests, drafting reports, providing design recommendations, and troubleshooting lab equipment.
Must Have
- Assist with user tests: setup, breakdown, game review, participant intake/outtake, and experience reporting
- Draft and edit reports and surveys
- Support senior researchers with analysis, presentations, and supervised study execution
- Provide design recommendations based on research and observation
- Troubleshoot lab equipment (consoles, laptops, streaming software, etc.)
- At least one year experience conducting user research for console video games, or two years experience conducting user testing research for websites or apps
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred branches of psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, marketing, communications, market research, or related field)
- Understanding and experience conducting scientific studies with participants of all ages
- Good interpersonal communication (both written and verbal)
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills

Your Mission
As an Associate User Researcher, you will join a talented team that values collaboration, innovation, and diverse perspectives to assist with carrying out user research on some of the world’s best-known franchises. This role will be expected to work on site at the Activision User Research Center (AURC), located in Sherman Oaks, California. In this role, you’ll collaborate with studio stakeholders, and support or lead onsite or remote data collection efforts, data analysis, and report generation. You’ll be comfortable planning and running basic onsite and remote research studies, performing basic data cleaning and analysis, and contributing to reports and presentations to studio stakeholders under the supervision of more experienced researchers.
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Assist with user tests: setup, breakdown, game review, participant intake/outtake, and experience reporting.
- Draft and edit reports and surveys.
- Support senior researchers with analysis, presentations, and supervised study execution.
- Provide design recommendations based on research and observation.
- Troubleshoot lab equipment (consoles, laptops, streaming software, etc).
- Support onboarding and knowledge sharing with newer team members as needed, under the guidance of senior staff.
This is a part-time temporary position with variable weekly hours, depending on project needs. During peak periods, hours may increase up to 40 per week. Scheduling is based on operational requirements and will be communicated in advance when possible

- At least one year experience conducting user research for console video games, or two years experience conducting user testing research for websites or apps.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $27.64 - $51.14 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
