Job Description

The Reddit Pro team empowers brands, publishers, and professionals to create engaging content and grow their presence on Reddit through advanced tooling. This high-impact Backend Engineer role involves contributing to technical and product strategy, building novel products, and collaborating cross-functionally. The position offers a chance to be on the ground floor of a new product space, focusing on the full development cycle from design to launch, and mentoring other engineers.
Must Have:
  • Work cross-functionally, collaborate and partner with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy and build novel products and features.
  • Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
  • Review code and design docs, give feedback on product specs and mocks.
  • Participate with a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers.
  • Contribute to standards that improve developer workflows, recommend best practices.
  • Help mentor engineers on the team to grow their technical expertise.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes for backend development.
  • BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of coding experience in a production setting writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • 2+ years of industry experience designing large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Golang, Python, or Java.
  • Experienced with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift or gRPC basics, and the ability to design and implement maintainable APIs.
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a track record of mentoring and developing junior engineers.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments.

What You’ll Do:

Who You Might Be:

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base pay range for this position is:

$164,000 - $229,000 USD
