Job Description

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. The Battlefield Positive Play team protects titles by mitigating bad actors, collaborating to ensure a fair and positive gaming experience. As an Operations Engineer, you will monitor, investigate, and report on player behaviors violating Terms of Service, using tools to identify and track disruptive players. You'll conduct investigations into toxic behaviors and suspected cheating, evaluate data, gather threat intelligence, and support anti-cheat pipelines.
Must have:
  • Monitor and analyze player behaviors and activities.
  • Perform triage and investigations of enforcement appeals.
  • Develop processes and systems to act on verified bad actors.
  • Apply enforcements according to our Terms of Service.
  • Gather threat intelligence to support anti-cheat and UGX efforts.
  • Document and escalate confirmed bad actor cases.
  • Communicate task progress and blockers to the team.
  • Coordinate with other EA teams for consistent positive play enforcement.
  • Provide feedback to improve the game's security, anti-cheat, and moderation solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience in security analysis, fraud detection, or online gaming enforcement.
  • 1+ years of experience as a SOC Tier 1 analyst working with SIEM technologies.
  • Proficiency in APAC regional languages, especially Mandarin.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Familiarity with online gaming platforms and technologies.
  • Knowledge of common cheating, hacking, exploiting, and griefing methods and countermeasures.
  • Basic knowledge of operating system fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using tools like PowerBI, Excel, Tableau.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to safely handle potentially malicious software.

  • Contract: Permanent.
  • Work Model: Hybrid (3 days a week onsite weekly).

As an Operations Engineer on the Battlefield Positive Play team, you will monitor, investigate, and report on player behaviors that violate the game's Terms of Service and Code of Conduct. You will use various tools to identify and track cheaters, hackers, and other disruptive players, collaborating with the Positive Play lead and other EA teams to take appropriate actions.

You will conduct investigations into toxic behaviors, suspected cheating, and related exploits to confirm or refute reports, improving the quality of our detections. You will also evaluate data from various tools, gather and review threat intelligence, and support our anti-cheat and user-generated content (UGX) protection pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze player behaviors and activities.
  • Perform triage and investigations of enforcement appeals.
  • Develop processes and systems to act on verified bad actors.
  • Apply enforcements according to our Terms of Service using current processes and systems.
  • Gather threat intelligence to support anti-cheat and UGX efforts.
  • Document and escalate confirmed bad actor cases to appropriate teams.
  • Communicate task progress and blockers to the team.
  • Coordinate with other EA teams for consistent positive play enforcement.
  • Provide feedback to improve the game's security, anti-cheat, and moderation solutions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in security analysis, fraud detection, or online gaming enforcement.
  • 1+ years of experience as a SOC Tier 1 analyst working with SIEM technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written proficiency in APAC regional languages, with Mandarin being essential; other language proficiencies are a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Familiarity with online gaming platforms and technologies (EA Play, Steam, Xbox Live, PSN, etc.).
  • Knowledge of common cheating, hacking, exploiting, and griefing methods and countermeasures.
  • Basic knowledge of operating system fundamentals (processes, threads, virtual memory, etc.).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using tools like PowerBI, Excel, Tableau, etc.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for gaming and positive play.
  • Ability to articulate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • An ability to identify knowledge gaps and seek the right sources to close those gaps.
  • Ability to safely handle potentially malicious software.
  • Quick learner of new technical skills.
