Job Description

The Category Development Manager will analyze and predict shopper behaviors to drive category growth. Responsibilities include providing market expertise, managing category development with key retailers, maintaining joint business plans, co-creating selling stories, designing Perfect Store strategies, participating in new product launches, identifying assortment gaps, developing training programs, and working with the Consumer & Shopper Research Team. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial functions within an FMCG company or retailer, with at least 2 years in Category Management.
Must have:

  • Fluent Greek and English language skills.
  • Experience working with Mass Market retailers.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding.
  • Deep shopper understanding of trends.
  • Skilled with planogram building tools.
  • Solid analytical skills for actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in consumption sales data analysis.
  • Strength in influencing stakeholders for growth.

Category Development Manager (Fixed-term: 1,5 year)

About the role

As a Category Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving category growth by analysing and predicting shopper behaviours. Your insights and recommendations will not only benefit Retailers and Shoppers but also position Haleon as the top Category Development partner. Your goal is to unlock long-term category growth and help Haleon make a significant impact on the market.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic shopper and local market expertise, including retailer specifics, for local Leadership Team & Commercial Team in key Haleon product categories (Oral Care, Cold & Flu, Pain Management, Vitamins),

  • Manages End-to-End category development process with key local retailers in Mass Market & Pharmacy channels,

  • Collaborates on and maintains effective joint business plans with retailers,

  • Applies actionable category & shopper insights by co-creating selling stories in collaboration with Marketing and Customer Marketing teams,

  • Designs and drives Perfect Store picture of success (KPIs around product distribution and visibility) for appointed retailers,

  • Actively participates in the planning and execution process for New Product Launches and key shopper occasions,

  • Identifies Haleon assortment gaps and opportunities, building compelling internal and external propositions to unlock consumption & category growth,

  • Develops training programs for internal teams and retail partners to enhance category management expertise and execution,

  • Works with the Consumer & Shopper Research Team to develop Haleon database of shopper knowledge.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial functions in an FMCG company or a with a leading FMCG retailer, with a minimum of 2 years in Category Management, is required.

  • Fluent Greek and English language skills.

  • Experience of working with Mass Market retailers.

  • Strong commercial and financial understanding.

  • Deep shopper understanding and up-to-date knowledge of shopper trends.

  • Skilled with planogram building tools.

  • Solid analytical skills and proven ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Analytical skills with proficiency in Nielsen’s and IQVIA’s consumption sales data and GfK household panel.

  • Strength in influencing both internal and external stakeholders to drive category growth initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Effective communication and presentation skills.

  • Additional experience with the Pharmacy channel is a plus.

  • Proficiency in syndicated data analysis (Nielsen, IQVIA, Circana, GfK household panel).

  • Practical experience with shopper and category research methodologies.
