Job Summary
Blackbird Interactive is seeking a passionate Character Artist for an upcoming first-person narrative thriller. The ideal candidate will have broad creative and technical experience creating and implementing characters in Unreal Engine 5, and be skilled at creating art under a strong technical brief. You will join a fast-moving team developing the second installment of a new IP within a creative-fueled, future-driven independent game studio.
Must Have
- Create and develop character art using Unreal Engine 5 and Metahuman.
- Work with Creative Leads to author immersive content for an FPS game.
- Problem-solve and support tools and tech development for visual and performance targets.
- Monitor deliverable progress, manage assigned scope, and follow through on commitments.
- Ensure assets meet technical requirements for Unreal Engine 5.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, collaborate effectively, and take ownership.
- Document tools and production pipelines clearly.
- 2+ years of proven gameplay development experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multidisciplinary project teams and adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with Zbrush, Substance, and other character art tools.
Good to Have
- Technical character set up skills.
- Some understanding of vertex animation.
- Some understanding of mesh morph targets.

Requirements

- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5 and Metahuman
- Demonstrated experience with Zbrush, Substance, and other character art tools
Pluses
- Technical character set up skills a plus
