Job Summary

J.S. Held is seeking a Claims Consultant for their Construction Advisory department in Saudi Arabia. The role involves delivering claims consulting and dispute resolution services, managing client relations, and meeting tight deadlines. The successful candidate will conduct advanced data research, prepare presentations, and potentially support lead experts in formal dispute processes. Strong academic background, experience in quantum-related disputes, and the ability to write expert reports are preferred. The consultant will also contribute to business development and mentor junior team members.

Must Have

  • First degree in construction or engineering subject
  • Second degree in legal or construction management subject
  • Training in dispute resolution matters
  • Significant professional experience within a leading international contracting organization or owner organization with an international project portfolio
  • Proven background in delivering consulting services or high-end internal claims preparation/defence work
  • Demonstrated expertise in relevant claim preparation/defence assignments
  • Strong awareness of the importance of work winning and client networking
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written)
  • Eligible to work in Saudi Arabia
  • Ability to show initiative, perform advanced data research, manage client relations, and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Ability to prepare and make presentations to communicate results
  • Experience in writing expert reports to a high level
  • Strong industry experience

Job Description

The successful candidate will primarily be involved in delivering claims consulting and dispute resolution services to our clients in Saudi Arabia.

We require an individual who can show initiative, perform advanced data research, manage client relations, and deliver to tight deadlines. This role will involve frequent client interaction and will require the successful candidate to prepare and make presentations to communicate results.

It is preferred that the individual has previous experience in providing consultancy services on substantial and/or complex disputes in quantum-related matters. The candidate may support lead experts in formal dispute processes. They should be able to demonstrate experience in writing expert reports to a high level and have strong industry experience.

We anticipate that the successful candidate will have a strong academic record and be able to demonstrate how they have distinguished themselves within their chosen field. They will be expected to work collaboratively with the team and deliver commissions under high pressure and to the client’s satisfaction. We also expect the individual to contribute to business development through networking and marketing activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Select appropriate analysis methodologies with guidance from the manager; assist in Stage 1 commission reviews and identify claim strategy.
  • Deliver concise and compelling event chronologies; draft completed sections of Claim Reports in your first language.
  • Utilize appropriate structure and format of reports.
  • Peer review, critique, and edit work produced by subordinates involved in commissions.
  • Manage allocated staff on assignments and mentor junior team members.
  • Provide real-time feedback on work product and other activities to allocated resources and upstream to the manager; ensure allocated commission elements are completed on time and on budget.
  • Assist in preparation of bi-weekly reports to clients; ensure team timesheets are timely and accurate.
  • Ensure invoicing is timely and accurate; assist accounts team in recovering payment of fees.
  • Engage in business development activities as requested by the BD Director; willing to draft articles for publishing.
  • Regularly attend marketing and networking events.
  • Proactively assist in seeking out new work opportunities for the business.
