Job Description

Zelis is modernizing the healthcare financial experience across payers, providers, and healthcare consumers. The Cloud Data Architect will design, implement, and manage security architecture for data and cloud environments, ensuring compliance and data protection. This role requires deep understanding of cloud security principles, data protection, and regulatory compliance. The architect will collaborate with teams to identify data assets, threats, and implement cyber security controls, continuously improving the organization's security posture through guidance and training.
Must have:

  • Collaborate with project teams to identify data assets, flows, threats, and cyber security controls.
  • Develop and enforce policies, procedures, guidelines, and design patterns for data protection.
  • Design data protection architecture for cloud environments, ensuring compliance.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to projects for adherence to cloud data architecture.
  • Define monitoring strategy to respond to security incidents.
  • Participate in security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Stay up to date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on best practices.
  • 7+ years of experience in security architecture, with a focus on cloud data.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud principles, architecture, and frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure security best practices.
  • Familiarity with AWS CDK and Terraform.
  • Expertise in IAM, least privilege, and Zero Trust.
  • Experience securing structured and unstructured data in cloud environments.
  • Understanding of how to secure Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Knowledge of data encryption, tokenization, and DLP.
  • Ability to design secure cloud architectures for applications and data.
  • Experience conducting threat modeling for cloud and data environments.
  • Proficiency in security automation and IaC security.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM, CSPM, and CWPP.
  • Experience with secrets management tools.
  • Experience with security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
  • Proficient in security tools and technologies, including firewalls, encryption, and identity management.
Good to have:
  • Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with container security and container orchestration tools.
  • Experience with data classification and access controls.
  • Knowledge of container security and microservices architecture.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and cloud-native data security solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data warehouse platforms like Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse Analytics, Cloudera, Teradata, etc.
  • Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 API and Web Application Security Risks.
  • AWS Certified Security - Specialty, Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert, CISSP, CISM, CCSP or other relevant certifications.

Position Overview

The Cloud Data Architect position will report to the Head of Application Security and work in collaboration with business and technical teams to design, implement and manage the security architecture for our data and cloud environments. The position requires a deep understanding of cloud security principles, data protection, and regulatory compliance. The individual will collaborate with the project teams to identify data assets, data flows, threats, and required cyber security controls. The individual will collaborate with Application Security Testers to measure the effectiveness of identified cyber security controls.

Partner with business stakeholders to understand regulatory, industry, and organizational data requirements. Develop and enforce policies, procedures, guidelines, design patterns, and checklists to protect data in cloud environments (IaaS, PaaS and SaaS). Design data protection architecture for cloud environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. Provider guidance and oversight to projects to ensure adherence to cloud data architecture. Define monitoring strategy to respond to security incidents. Participate in security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies. Stay up to date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies to continuously improve the organization's security posture. Provide guidance and training to team members on best practices and emerging threats.

What You'll Do:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity (or) related degree and experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in security architecture, with a focus on cloud data.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud principles, architecture, and frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure security best practices.
  • Familiarity with AWS CDK and Terraform.
  • Expertise in IAM (Identity and Access Management), lease privilege, and Zero Trust.
  • Experience securing structured and unstructured data in cloud environments.
  • Understanding of how to secure Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Knowledge of data encryption, tokenization, and DLP (Data Loss Prevention).
  • Ability to design secure cloud architectures for applications and data.
  • Experience conducting threat modeling for cloud and data environments.
  • Proficiency in security automation and IaC (infrastructure-as-code) security.
  • Hand-on experience with SIEM, CSPM (Cloud Security Posture Management), and CWPP (Cloud Workload Protection Platforms).
  • Experience with secrets management tools.
  • Experience with security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
  • Proficient in security tools and technologies, including firewalls, encryption, and identity management.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong Customer service skills.
