Job Description

The Component Engineer is responsible for introducing and registering electronic components for high-end analog and digital circuits on PCBs. This role acts as a liaison between design teams, purchasing, obsolescence engineering, and component vendors, balancing technology, quality, cost, and logistics. Key tasks include market research, vendor contact, database maintenance, policy implementation, component selection, and resolving obsolescence issues.
Must have:
  • Build and maintain expertise in the assigned components product category
  • Maintain technical contact with component vendors, suppliers, buyers, manufacturers and Thales sites
  • Maintain the electronic database (off-the-shelf and customized parts)
  • Discuss and implement policies regarding electronics components
  • Ensure the availability of suitable components required to build products; select, introduce, approve, document and manage purchased components
  • Analyze and develop solutions to resolve issues associated with obsolete components and supplies
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Background in hardware design
  • Fluent in English

The development of modern phased array radars requires a multi-disciplinary approach in which the functional concept, the antenna, the electronics, and the electrical and cooling infrastructure are addressed simultaneously. In this multi-disciplinary team, the working area consists the development of new antenna and/or microwave concepts, introduction of new technologies and development of new Radar front-end designs. For our HW development engineering team, we are searching for a Component Engineer.

About the job

You are responsible for the introduction and registration of electronics components (catalog materials and customized derivatives) used for the design of electronic functions implemented in high-end analog and digital circuits and realized on PCBs. In your job, you will be the linking pin between design teams, purchasing, obsolescence engineering and component vendors, providing advice and guard the balance between technology, quality, cost and logistics, often in an international environment.

Your work will cover:

  • Build and maintain expertise in the assigned components product category by doing market re-search on trends/developments, participating in seminars/conventions, studying literature etc.;
  • Maintain (technical) contact with component vendors, suppliers, buyers, manufacturers and Thales sites;
  • Maintain the electronic database (off-the-shelf and customized parts);
  • Discuss and implement policies w.r.t. electronics components;
  • Ensure the availability of suitable components (technology, applicability, vendor selection, etc.) required to build our products; select, introduce, approve, document and manage purchased components;
  • Analyze and develop solutions to resolve issues associate with obsolete components and supplies.

About you

  • You have a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • You have a background in hardware design;
  • You are independent but not individual;
  • You are creative, enterprising and problem solving;
  • You are an enthusiastic and persistent personality with good communication skills;
  • You are fluent in English. Dutch and French are a plus.
