Job Description

The Component Engineer role at Apple involves identifying, documenting, and releasing efficient components for products. This position requires supporting the System Integration Electrical Engineering team by ensuring the correct components are selected for every electrical part in a product's design. The individual will act as a Domain Expert, driving the component selection process in a consultative manner. Responsibilities include supporting new product introductions by developing cost models, lead times, qualification plans, roadmaps, and suggesting alternate components, as well as qualifying new suppliers. The role also involves reviewing component change notifications, failure analysis reports, coordinating root cause failure analysis, implementing corrective actions, documenting specifications, and conducting commodity research.

Must have:

BSEE required.
Minimum 15 years industry experience.
Approximately 10 years in Component Engineering or similar role.

Good to have:

Understanding of engineering documentation (schematics, datasheets, Gerber files).
Knowledge of document control practices (ECRs, ECOs, deviations).
Experience with multi-functional coordination (Industrial Design, GSM, JDMs).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The Individual at this role will have the opportunity to work on the intricate and complex issues impacting delivery for best-in-class Apple devices. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Project Team Support across Commodities as the Resident Component Expert Support New Product Introduction by developing cost model, lead time, qualification, roadmap, alternate component suggestions, and follow up with vendors. Locate and qualify new potential component suppliers. Review and evaluate component PCNs and FA reports, evaluating issues and risk to the project. Responsible for coordinating and tracking all component root cause failure analysis and implementing corrective action. Documenting and releasing all component specifications. Commodity research, including identifying supply chain opportunities and tracking supplier roadmaps.

BSEE required.
A minimum of 15 years of Industry Experience is required, with ~ 10 years of experience in Component Engineering or similar role.

Good understanding/Working knowledge of Engineering documentation (i.e. schematics, component data sheets, Gerber files, etc) and standard document control practices (Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Orders, deviations, etc.)
Experience with coordinating multi-functionally with groups such as Industrial Design, GSM (Global Supply Chain Managers) and JDMs (Joint Development Manufacturers) to resolve issues pertaining to component selection and use is preferred.
Seeking someone with excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $141,800 and $258,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
