The Core Banking Systems Manager is responsible for the Credit Union’s Core Processing platform and all supporting systems essential for banking functions, including back-office ACH, Accounting, and front-office Account Opening and Loan Origination. This role requires deep technical expertise and strategic leadership to ensure the accuracy, resilience, and high availability of critical systems. The manager will lead a team of Systems Analysts, providing direction, mentorship, and support for daily operations and long-term growth. Key responsibilities include overseeing core banking applications like Symitar, OpCon, Synapsys, Synergy, Image Center, SymConnect, and ARCU, managing Disaster Recovery planning and execution, implementing software releases for Jack Henry systems, and providing expert-level support for SQL Server environments. The role also involves leading and developing the Systems Analyst team, ensuring system accuracy and uptime, collaborating with various stakeholders, and performing hands-on technical work when needed, including after-hours support.

Job Title: Core Banking Systems Manager

The Core Banking Systems Manager holds full ownership of the Credit Union’s Core Processing platform and all supporting systems necessary to power essential banking functions—from back-office ACH and Accounting to front-office Account Opening and Loan Origination. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to ensure accuracy, resilience, and high availability of all critical systems. The manager will also lead a high-performing team of Systems Analysts, providing direction, mentorship, and support for both daily operations and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Oversight

  • Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the Credit Union’s core banking applications, including Symitar, OpCon, Synapsys, Synergy, Image Center, SymConnect, and ARCU.

  • Supervise and actively participate in Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and execution to ensure uninterrupted service and robust business continuity.

  • Manage the implementation of software releases and updates for Jack Henry systems, including testing, deployment, and coordination with stakeholders.

  • Provide expert-level support for SQL Server environments related to data ingestion, extraction, optimization, and backup.

  • Create accurate and timely system reports, ensuring data integrity and reliability.

  • As needed, perform hands-on technical work as a Core Systems Analyst to support high-priority tasks or fill temporary bandwidth gaps.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Systems Analysts, offering regular one-on-one support to align performance goals with professional development.

  • Provide career mentorship and growth opportunities tailored to individual team members.

  • Set clear expectations and deadlines, ensuring all projects meet timelines and objectives.

  • Ensure thorough documentation of software configurations, issue resolutions, and systems architecture.

Operational & Strategic Execution

  • Ensure the accuracy, uptime, and resiliency of all core and ancillary banking systems.

  • Consistently deliver results under high-pressure conditions, with attention to detail and adherence to compliance standards.

  • Support system failovers and execute strategic initiatives that align technology with organizational goals.

  • Deliver timely, high-quality outcomes across multiple initiatives with competing priorities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal business units, external vendors, and cross-functional technical teams to deliver system enhancements and resolve issues.

  • Serve as a liaison between business goals and technical capabilities, fostering mutual understanding and shared success.

  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive alignment and transparency.

Additional Duties

  • Maintain flexibility to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.

  • Provide after-hours and on-call support as needed for critical system updates or issue resolution.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience supporting or managing banking or financial applications in a technical role.

  • At least 3+ years of experience supervising technical professionals.

  • Expert-level knowledge of Jack Henry core banking systems, including update and release management.

  • Strong track record in leading complex, cross-functional projects from planning through execution.

  • Proven ability to manage SQL Server environments, including performance tuning and backup operations.

  • Extensive experience executing failovers and disaster recovery drills to safeguard mission-critical systems.

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in high-stakes environments.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

  • Comfortable working in dynamic settings with evolving priorities and after-hours demands.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Leads a team of Systems Analysts to provide oversight and configuration management of all Symitar Credit Union systems.
  • Supervises advanced Support of Critical Core Applications: OpCon, Synapsys, Synergy, Image Center, Symconnect and ARCU
  • Provide coaching and guidance to team members, helping them to achieve success in their current roles as well as their careers.
  • As needed, perform the hands on work of a Core Systems Analyst to supplement team bandwidth and capabilities.
  • Supervise the Disaster Recover Planning and Testing for all core banking applications.
  • Ensure the team maintains documentation of Software configurations and support issue resolution.
  • Consistently meet assigned project deadlines and goals.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations.
  • Create accurate and timely reports from Credit Union systems, ensuring data validity.
  • Collaborate with business units, vendors and technical staff to achieve business results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with both technical and non-technical staff

Requirements 
  • Minimum 10+ years experience working with Banking or other finance related Business Applications in an Advanced Support, Analyst or Administrator capacity
  • Minimum 3+ year experience supervising others in technical roles.
  • Expert in managing and implementing updates and releases for Jack Henry core banking systems, ensuring smooth transitions through meticulous planning, rigorous testing, and effective coordination with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven expertise in executing system failovers and disaster recovery drills, minimizing risk of outages and protecting data integrity essential for continuous banking operations.
  • Skilled in managing SQL Database Servers, with a focus on data ingestion, extraction, query optimization, and performing backups, which supports robust data availability and system efficiency.
  • Demonstrated success in leading complex, cross-functional projects within the core banking domain, from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with a strategic approach to resolving critical system issues, ensuring uninterrupted core banking services in high-stakes scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering clear understanding and cohesive teamwork across departments.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work On Call or provide After-Hours support in order to install, upgrade, or resolve issues with critical Software and/or Systems.
